Like when Lyne quite clearly put the ball down before regaining his feet to win a penalty which resulted in the try that took you ahead? Or the penalty Johnstone won for a “high shot” that was identical to one Taia received on the set before which led to the try before that and started the role that Wakefield got on? All of these things even themselves out over the course of a match.

As for the Taia decision - if not a try, it’s a sin bin for a head shot on Lomax off the ball. I actually think Child gave the try to avoid that decision.

I get Sky want to get controversy, but I don’t think Saints would have won a Sky game this year “if” not for reffing decisions.

Edit: that’s not to say that Wakefield didn’t deserve to push us all the way and played their part in a great game of rugby that I’m sure was great for the neutrals.

But the video ref isn't there for penalties is he? He is there for suspect tries, however.

I'm calling bull5h1t on that; a penalty try all day long that somehow became just a penalty, and a clear as you like double movement that should never have been a try - they do not, under any circumstances, get netted off by a couple of questionable high shots.

I don't like complaining about referees, but Mr Child is hardly shy of using the VR - why on earth he chose not for those incidents, is beyond my comprehension.

Cool theory, but Child gave the try because he's inept, same with the Batchelor one.

We can't seem to get the big calls out of Child when its tight, don't think the home crowd is helping but that's one of the advantages a home game I guess.
I thought the penalties were pretty even, you win some you lose some for both sides, but the biggies that really count are passing us by.
Saints played their usual game and looked strong everywhere, Percival was a bit under but miles better than he was for England.
Generally I thought they came good despite the upset of a few big players being in Denver the week before.
But it does highlight the obvious, Saints ain't all that and still have good potential to win FA besides the hubcap.

Please don't get drawn in by Wexford. He is not a Wakefield Trinity fan and is trying to make us look bad.

How come it's always the refs fault when Wakefield lose? Do this lot ever get beat fair and square?

Wakey fans are the biggest shower of whoppers in Super League. The same set of fans who were asking 'are we a big club again' on their board after a few early season wins against crap teams.

Saints were on their knees at 26-20 down and looked out of it. Wakefield should have gone for a drop goal when they had that set on their line and put themselves two scores clear. There would have only been one winner at that point so Wakey only have themselves to blame.

Should have been a penalty try, and definitely was a double movement. Two bad calls. I also agree that some bad calls went the other way in not so spectacular a fashion, the penalty for interference which got Wakey's roll on in the second half was a very questionable call. You win some you lose some.

Carney and Wells got it right, and showed the ex-player experience and perspective when they noted that we can't simultaneously moan about players staying down to milk penalties slowing the game down, while also simultaneously moaning if referees don't refer eevry try to the video ref.

Eddie has an irritating tendency to talk of individual events in the game as if the decision could have been reversed and the rest of the game would then have gone exactly as it did.

It is frustrating when a decision is wrong, and it'll affect every team during the course of a match and regularly throughout the season. Wakey were unlucky tonight. Saints scraped another win despite being nowhere near their best (not sure I believed Holbrook's explanation of Barba's subbing). Chester showed some class after the match in his interview.

That's why Saints are where they are. To lose there by 4 when some teams have gone there and had 60 put on them puts it into perspective. I know there's was some questionable decisions but we've had some go our way this year. That's sport. Game management does seem to be our Achilles heel.

On a side note, when will the mods deal with the bile that trolls put out only to antgonize?

I can't be objective as i despise st helens but even through my manila tinted glasses wakey were still robbed in terms of big decisions. Saints will win the LLS and that's it unless they can stop Ben hounding Elliot which he seems to have intensified. Karma
