Does raise the potential of helping England's cause. In both Australia's games so far I feel that after good starts they've then taken their foot off the gas and not been as ruthless as they could.

The commentators were as bad the way they were going on about New Zealand not being used to the conditions I was starting to think it had moved nearer to the equator than the south pacific ocean.

Maybe we could play out a friendly draw like the Danes and Swedes in the 1982 football World Cup.'"
The draw between Denmark and Sweden was in the 2004 European Championships. A 2-2 draw would send both through and they promptly drew 2-2. Someone in the crowd had a banner that said '2-2 - A victory for Scandinavia'.
Fantastic result for the Scotland team tonight, as someone else said though it's a shame it won't make the papers (or news bulletins) tomorrow due to the soccer international.

| Fantastic effort by Scotland
What will happen to the domestic game and grassroots in Scotland in the next couple of years?
Hopefully the game is able to develop even if it is on a small scale, perhaps in a few seasons a semi pro side in League One may help matters

the game has decent prominence on the guardian sport website but sadly and predictably its nowhere to be seen on the telegraphs

| A VERY WELL DONE TO SCOTLAND ......
But, let's also remember that this is the England reserve - reserve squad. Cracking result nevertheless & looking forward to the highlights show tomorrow.

| Like Samoa in the last 4 nations, they got better and better and saved their best for last.
It a fundamental flaw of this format that the 4th side comes in with very poor preparation.
The other sides have regular top level competition to develop combinations over years, but the 4th nation comes in with their players hardly having met each other.
Next time I'd love to see a couple of teams like Samoa and Scotland have a playoff the week before the 4 nations to see who plays, which would give them an extra week in camp and a tough game under the belt before the main draw starts, and actually give them a bit of a drop on the big 3.
Samoa and Scotland have both shown they can use passion to get themselves up to a level to compete with the big 3, but the format is actually stacked against them having a chance.

| Scotland should try to keep as many players from this series together and add a few more and they can really make a challenge.
Impressed with the determination including the work from the NRL players.
It will be such a shame if this Scotland team disappears.

| there would have been nothing stopping Scotland playing England and France in warm up tests before this comp. i mean, it would have benefited England too. Australia and the kiwis get the luxury of playing each other before this and it certainly steels them up for the games ahead.

Logistically that would be impossible, for both the teams and the organisers not to know til the week before who's going to be in the comp for the next month.
