they beat us in the play offs a couple of years back...at the end of the day with the currant system, winning the league means nothing, its hitting form in sept/oct that counts and over the sl period northern and leeds have hit form in these periods, we might beat leeds more often than not in league games, but we aren't their main rival and they have also learnt when to peak in the season

On recent form surely Huddersfield fit the bill.'"
Huddersfield?
It's not that huddersfield aren't a very good team it's just we've not really crossed paths with them when competing for trophies lately to stoke up that rivalry and just because they are yorkshire doesn't mean they are a rival, it's the proximity of cas that gives that rivalry and the bulls rivalry was driven by us both competing for trophies.
No leeds fans look for huddersfield when the fixtures are announced (and i doubt they do us).

They got the hubcap though. Did anyone notice Brian Mac stating we'd won 10 trophies in the decade and went on to list 6 GF wins, 3 WCC wins and a CC win. Even he didn't mention the 2 hubcaps. Very telling I thought!
As for the rivalry it's got to be Cas for me.'"
I noticed Hetherington said it when he was interviewed - 10 years 10 trophies golden decade, but including the hubcaps it would have been 12. Proof if ever there was that most teams just arent that bothered about the LLS.

| The hubcap means something if you then go on to win the GF like we did in 2004 and 2009 when we were LLS winners......however it's pretty meaningless if you fail in the playoffs like Hudds did last year

| Quote bramleyrhino="bramleyrhino"As a Leeds fan, I have to say that on fixtures day it is Wigan and St Helens that I'm looking for before most others, usually followed by Cas away, Bradford and Hull away.
Certainly in recent years, St Helens has been a stand-out fixture - largely because I think the hatred was more on the field than it was in the stands. There was an intense rivalry between the players, which caught the imagination of the fans. It's a shame that seems to have died away a bit since James Graham left Saints.
Despite them being 'traditional' rivals, I'm indifferent to Wakefield.'"
It's possibly a sad indictment on Yorkshire RL when some Leeds fans look over the Pennines for their big games and main rivalries.

Indeed. But that's perhaps another debate for another time.
I'd love to see the return of some table-topping battles with Hull.

| Leeds are the big fish in a small Yorkshire pond. Apart from Bradford, their rivals are small town teams and former pit villages. Unlike the other side of the Pennines, there isn't much parity.
If anything, Hull FC are probably Leeds' biggest Yorkshire rivals.

| This one depends on your age.
Anyone over 60 will say it was Wakefield which was a slightly bigger derby than Bradford.
Anyone younger especially those who joined us post SL will say Bradford.
Castleford have been a thorn in Leeds side from time to time but it's never been consistent enough to matter. Nothing will change as next season Cas will go back to mediocrity just as Wakefield did after 2004, 2008, 2009 and 2012 when we to managed top 6/8 and in our case nearly got to Wembley.
In reality the only rivals Leeds really have are Saints, Wigan and Warrington - the only other three teams who have recently won anything. I'd include Hudds but until they actually do what I just said they are not in the club.
Wakefield have the most potential in theory, near to Leeds, bigger than Cas etc etc - in reality it's just a pipe dream unless BV does get a revamp and a sugar daddy appears.
