| Seems somewhat unfair that there is a massive salary cap difference. How are teams in the mid eight going to compete against sides with 00,000's of pounds more to spend on the squad?
1mill v 1.9mill, hmmm level playing field then?

| Quote rollin thunder="rollin thunder"Plus as a fan if a successful club all we have to do is scrape into the 8 and then play from there. May as well only start going to games after the split as May fans of the over top 3-4 clubs.'"
Well, if im reading things correctly points from the regular season are carried over so the top 4 could already be a closed shop if those sides have been smashing the rest of the league for 23 games.teams 5 to 8 could very quickly have nothing to play for and we could again see drubbings.

| I will give the new system time, but can I see it being used in 10 years time? No.
I think the gap between the top 8 and the rest will increase year on year.
Te RFL were too stubborn I realise they made a mistake with licensing and 8 team play-off and go back to the system that worked.

| So we have a competition called 'The Qualifiers' who dont actually qualify for anything, its a promotion competition for the next season.
a 'Million pound game' which doesnt have a prize of a million pounds.
a league called 'The Championship' and a trophy called 'The championship Shield' which isnt contested by the top clubs in 'the championship' they qualify for 'the qualifiers' but is awarded to the 5th best side in the Championship.
We have a competition called Super League that is contested by 12 clubs, except 4 of them finish the season in 'The Qualifiers' to try and qualify for the same league they started the season in, while the other 8 qualify for Super League and attempt to qualify for the Super league play-offs(which 4 teams qualify for by finishing in the top 4 of an 8 team league they qualified for by being top 8 in 12 team league with the other 4 dropping in to 'The Qualifiers')

| Quote Bull Mania="Bull Mania"Not a fan of this. The RFL are going to end up saturating the big games in their quest to make very game count. Whoever finishes in top 8 next year will get huge advantages for seasons to come.
Cannot believe dual reg will still be in effect next year! It's a farce now. It's opened to being abused unless the RFL are tight on it.'"
Agreed
Although it may not be ideal for some of the big names o drop out of the Challenge Cup in the earlier rounds, the top 8 will only need to win 3 games to get to Wembley and it will become even more difficult for the lower ranked clubs to make it

It didn't work though did it? That's why they changed it.
I agree that the top 8 play off was a mistake but I think the franchising system wasn't given enough time, and this year apart from the 2 basket case clubs at the bottom the rest of league is becoming more competative. For example, when was the last time we had 5 or 6 teams battling it out for the top spot. It's not perfect but it would probably have been beneficial to RL in the long term.
I'm not a fan of the new structure but I'm quite excited to see how it pans out, whatever happens I just hope it's given longer than franchising has been given.

| On paper it looks fine, in reality it wont change anything in the game. It dangles the carrot of promotion and relegation but severely restricts the chances of it happening. It will produce a top tier competition that will become almost shut-off from everyone else. Like now but more so. It will keep lower teams games interesting in so much as they have a risk factor even though it's small.
Let's say for example that Salford have a stinking season next year and finish bottom at the halfway stage. They then get put in a group with a few teams that operate on nearly half the cap of their SL rivals. You could have the likes of Locke, Chase and Hanson wiping the floor with part-timers. Hardly a crowd draw for either team. If by some miracle a Championship team gets promoted, they've basically worked their backsides off to form the whipping-boys group for the next season. Lower teams and promoted teams can't get the intensity of games brought by the top tier and can never break in the longer it goes on for.
I'm not saying that what we have now is right but I just can't see how compartmentalizing the leagues address the real problem in RL and that's the gap between rich and poor. Between the top of SL and the bottom of the Championship.

| I really can't believe that so many people, mostly on Facebook & Twitter, are struggling to understand something so simple. If nothing else, the announcement of this new structure has shown that the education system in this country is a joke and that Britain really is getting dumber, year on year.
Roll on 2015, I can't wait personally.

| I like it, it now restores hope to the middle-order, whilst giving SL sides worthy of their place a chance to prove it (no slackers).
League 1's, 11 h & a = 22 games? Thats a bit of a mystery and I don't get that, surely it should be 26 games, 13 home and away?

| Really not keen on the system as a whole, and one of the main reasons is the scrapping of the play-off system that has on the whole, been successful since 1998.
And by that I mean the team that finishes top of the pile being given the greatest advantage. 1 v 4 and 2 v 3 is shocking system. You really could have a scenario now when a team finishes a mile in front of the rest, loses one game to team 4 and that's it, season over. The teams that finish 1 and 2 deserve their 'second chance' game IMO.
The old top 5 system was perfect, in that it awarded each of the 5 teams slightly less of an advantage as you went down from 1-5. With not that much tweaking they could have done something similar.
1 v 2 (winner to GF)
3 v 4 (loser out)
Loser of 1 v 2 v Winner of 3 v 4
Surely that's better???

I pretty much get it now after a few times of rolling through the print but on first hearing it, it is quite a lot to take in and understand and the fact that many posters on here, whom i assume are ardent RL fans for the very fact they do post, are still scratching their heads at it all says a lot.
I do not relish trying to explain the system time and time again to friends and colleagues who are casual fans and have a passing interest in the game.

completely agree.
12 teams 1 up 1 down would have been the best way to go IMO.
Time will tell on this new system, we will have to see, but i feel there are plenty of holes to pick at already and more will present themselves as the season unfolds.
