ANYTHING is better than God Save The Queen. It's bad enough that our head of state runs a family of chinless wonders whose only talent is for Tax Dodging without people singing a song saying how gracious and noble she is - give me a 32 million quid a year for walking round chatting to people and I'll be as gracious as you like!

Anyway, God save the queen is too short, Kiwis got the right idea, 5 minutes long - then they sing it in another language and then they do a Haka whilst pulling funny faces - great stuff.

By comparison God Save the Saxe-Coburg-Gotha (ooops, sorry, I mean Queen, we are all good friends now etc) just gets mumbled by the players for a few awkward seconds and comes across as flat, usually sounds like it should be played at a low budget funeral - awful.

Yes, the "Land of Hope and Glooooooory" chorus is fantastically grand and uplifting, but for the most it's a lively, jolly little jaunt that bounces around all over the place without lyrics. Not a national anthem by any stretch. Cutting it to the chorus alone would sound a bit daft.

For RL, "Jerusalem" would be ideal.
