| Why is it always glass half empty for some fans? Anything to raise the international profile of the game will surely be a great thing. Who wouldn't want to see their team up against some of the biggest stars in the NRL? It could be good for our teams and youngsters in terms of experience on the big stage and pressure situations too...

| Yes, but, assuming the comp will end in a final of some sort the big danger is that BOTH finalists will be Aussie clubs.

Also the 1st time a 3rd place team won it people would be on here complaining and saying it's ''ridiculous'' and ''embarrassing the sport'' that a team who didn't win their GF and possibly didn't even reach their GF could be called the World Champs. Enough are already critical of Leeds doing because they finished 5th but at least they won their GF. What if the 3rd place team who crashed out of the playoffs in Week 2 after 2 straight losses managed to win the thing.'"
Happens in the champions league...when they're not champions!

Right now, I think it's a very dangerous concept. One of the main reasons for having the World Club Championship in this country, is that the English side has the advantage of home territory. That is a 20 swing in the scoreline that I doubt any English team would recover from.
If it's played in Australia I doubt we'd even see a respectible scoreline if the Aussies took it seriously. I know for certain as a Saints fan, that if we played in this competition in Australia, I'd hide behind the sofa rather than be excited by it. We'd lose by 50+ and I'd put the house, the bicycle and the swimming pool on that.

| What perspective do you want to look at it from? From a UK perspective, a SL perspective, this might be first on the agenda.
As far as Aussies and Kiwis go I think the proposed NRL Nines competition in Auckland with a huge cash incentive will come about first, if either are to.

| if you want to raise the profile of Rugby league then have a meaningful international programme with propers tours that pits the best against each other.
Not a Single World Club game and 2 warm up acts that precede it that have nothing at stake. I for one wouldn't pay to watch 2nd v 2nd or 3rd v 3rd, what the hell are they playing for..???

| It makes no sense at all, I can not imagine Australian Fans embracing their Club playing the second and third best English Clubs, if the fans don't follow it neither will the Sponsors or the money, its that simple.

| The problem I see with this is that it will still only be 1 "actual" WCC game between both GF winners, therefore the other 2 are just glorified friendlies that will mean nothing to either team and just disrupt the pre-season preperations of teams...
If it was played at end of season and was a 3 game playoff between SL & NRL (might be a few arguments over which club gets to lift the trophy) then it could be better placed to work.
Not sure about how clubs would view it, but imo, if I was coaching a team who finished 3rd the previous year and had to cart my team down under just after the start of the season to play a nothing game against 3rd in NRL, I would be tempted to send the U19's/academy/alliance - whatever RFL call them in 2 years time - and save my first team fresh for SL

And? Not a problem as long as it isn't every year. Chelsea v Man Utd a couple of years ago, don't think any fans complained

What are they Aussie teams playing for?
The best team has already been decided over a Season?
Pretty sure it was mooted as
1v1
2v2
3v3
That's it but if it was a 6 team contest and the final was between the Storm and the Dogs and the Dogs won, would that mean the Dogs are the best team in the World? even though they were handed their bums in the NRL grand final?
It all makes no sense
Put it away and promote the Test Matches FFS
