| Who CARES?
How many badminton players like Rugby League?
Who CARES?
Does a football player liking Rugby League improve our self esteem and importance?

| Quote: Mugwump "What verifiable benefits have the occasional visits of footballers bestowed on the game (other than bathing us in their heavenly aura and turning the DWS water into beer)?'"
Perhaps not 'verifiable', but I don't think anyone can say the likes of Rooney (3,762,624 million followers) and Rio Ferdinand (2,530,949 followers) tweeting positive and enthusiastic comments about RL is in any way, shape or form, a bad thing. In fact, contrary to many RL fans' outlook on life, it's a positive.
So is Wayne Rooney, when asked if he'd been enjoying the RU World Cup, answering, “I’ve not seen it, I’ve been watching the rugby league.” Articles like rlthisrl and rlthisrl and rlthisrl about a guy followed by many millions worldwide is marketing the RFL can only dream of.
Companies worldwide pay these guys millions to appear in their advertising, in their computer games, etc - simply to be associated with their brand. We get that for nowt and it's a huge positive. I don't think we should turn it into any actual marketing activity but honestly, how some RL fans can get y about it is beyond me.

Add to that Stuart Pearce and we could be looking at quite a footballing fanbase!'"
Is there a point to this post apart from kissing ass?

This. If you run your own business, ask a Wayne Rooney or a Rio Ferdinand to endorse your product and you'll get a whopping invoice to pay - right now RL is getting it for free. Whether it's making any difference or not I wouldn't like to say.

Another to add to the list is Jason Lowe who's been a regular in the first team at Blackburn this season and an outside bet for the GB squad at the Olympics and is a lifelong Leigh fan and still attends games as much as possible when they don't clash with his footballing commitments, and his Uncle gets him a ticket.'" I wondered when you'd pop up, hope you've got a cut of his new contract...he might even buy you a pint at the LSV now!

| I'd imagine it may increase casual sky viewers.
Someone sees wayne rooney raving about it, decides to watch a game on sky, kinda likes it, watches it when they can.

BARB ratings pretty much indicate this, I suspect a lot of football supporters particularly in the north west and to a lesser degree in West Yorkshire will have RL as their second sport that would most likely be the case with or without twitterings of high profile football players. Look at the BARB ratings when football is on, no other sport is so adversely affected in this way.

Tim Cahill is a big RL fan, know he used to watch Saints a lot when Peralini was at the club (think they are cousins or something)

| I think you will find that at least half of the Australian Football Players follow and like League and half of the Australian Cricketers do as well, pretty well half or more of Australians do.
