I have no reason to believe you that he did, and whether he did was irrelevant. His actions since the announcement have been very positive and he worked within the system very well. He was diplomatic and industrious.

I'm struggling to see what Widnes will bring to Sl that Wakey don;t other than some more plastic seats. Nt saying Widens don;t deserve a shot but do Wakey really deserve to be binned for them? If Widnes get 8,000 crowds are financial sustainable and put out a playoff team then I guess the RFL will be proved right, if not then what's the point?

I think you'll find most Leigh fans do not object to Widnes being given the licence at all, we may not like it but you deserve to be in SL!

Maybe 1 or 2 make stupid comments and think otherwise but I can only recall 1 person that I have personally spoken to that doesn't agree with you being given the nod (and that is out of bitterness nothing more).

I think that is the point. Under this system sides have had 3 years to achieve those crowds and improve facilities & business... They have not. So let someone else have a go for 3 'guaranteed' years.

What if Halifax go up? They got a certificate (whey! ) yesterday saying they've past all criteria for Super League so it's not like it may not happen. They won the GF last year and were in the previous one as well. Would that work better for Wakey fans if/when they go down?

Of course Widnes should be in SL over Wakey under this system. If you're asking whether promotion/relegation for anyone should come back, well there's about 127 threads already on that. Mainly with the correct answer of 'No'.

I have nothing against Widnes and congratulate and welcome to the SL.

Whilst a few/many (?) of us want or always preferred promotion and relegation we don't have that at the moment. With the franchise system teams and fans want to feel that the strongest applicants get a place at the top table. It is the subject of intense debate as to whether the current 14 at the top table are indeed the strongest applicants. As Kear said, how can you say the 14 strongest applicants will be determined when one club is elevated by decision in March and the others in July?

The way the RFL have designed it leaves it open to debate and in some cases bitterness due to perceptions.

Widnes have a strong application and I believe (in my perception) stronger than a fair few of the current SL clubs. So yes Widnes deserve their success.

I have voted 'no' purely because I'm fed up with all these 'Should Widnes be in SL' type threads that have popped up in the past few months.
