| Quote: Wire Bury Bob "That article says everything that LF says reguarly. Average player. (Best of a team that didn't make the finals has to be a definition of average). Ellis himself talks about how much better the players are over there and how much he has learnt since being there. Isn't that what LF says about Ellis?'"
had the tigers made the finals (just missed out) their form was as good as the GF parramatta.

| I think it was nice to give the token pom an award of some kind.
I mean, he isn't gutless like most of them is he? He's having a dig!

| I think he'll go ok, he'll be WAY over hyped, but he'll grow into the huge wraps he'll get no matter how bad he is.
Keep in mind, there are a lot of people here desperate to find some talent still in England. Peter Sterling splatters the TV screen every time he see's a Pom playing!

As I have said on other posts, the NRL has a DUTY to try and help the game flourish in developing nations.
If the NRL sees fit to give runs out to Poms then if it helps the game, I'm all for it.
I would sooner see more PNG players than Poms in the NRL though. The likes of Ellis have proven that the skill levels of English players in SL is even worse than we feared

| There's plenty who could make it, now the 'benefits' of playing in the UK have been removed I reckon you'll see a fair few more going over there in the next couple of years.
What concerns me more is the rumours of Kyle Eastmond going to union. You aussies might have ready made replacement, but we cant have our best prospects being cherrypicked like that.
At least if they go to aus we're going to be represented by a much better player at international level

there are plenty who could make it but they have to give up money to do so.
most wont, thats why those that do deserve more praise.
it took players like harry bath and ken kearney playing in england to come back to australia to improve the australian game

| He's burst onto the scene this year mainly in Longs absense, still a teenager, small but built like a brick house. Still rough but he's probably the best halfback talent i've seen in a while.
Imagine Rob Burrow but with dynamite strapped to his backside.
Rumours say he's going to Sale simply because they can offer a shedload more money

Agreed
Id add to that list, Jamie Peacock & Danny Mcguire (Who I think could still make it in the NRL)

Long would have been alreet but Farrell would have been phenominal.
You aussies probably wont know this but his son became the youngest ever player to play pro rugby last year..another talent we've lost out on

sterling only balances out goulds 'indifference' to english players.
why not admit ellis has done very well? why not acknowledge burgess has took a massive challenge for a big pay cut?
graham would do very well in the nrl and so would a couple of players.
