There was nothing in the international edition of the Times about today's RL World Cup games. Unless it was tucked away in a corner somewhere.

About 4 pages on union though.

I don't blame the media at all for reporting or making a fuss of the England Union game, in the end there'll be 80,000 there.

What annoys me is when an important or well attended domestic RL game occurs, it gets much less space than less important and less well attended domestic Union games.

Having said that I don't read papers much these days, only when I'm waiting for a takeaway, but I remember last year the day after the Wigan v Leeds playoff game there was a tiny box on the side column of one of the inner sports pages for that game. Yet Worcester v London Irish got a half a page write up, despite having a much lower attendance.

No match reports in the 'Observer' today, but six pages of Union.

How many people read newspapers today? It is a dying medium.

More very good news on viewing figures.

England v Ireland on BBC1 had figures of 2.12m (16.4% audience share). The England v Australia Union international's figure was 804k (6.2%).

Even better when you consider that a lot of Sky/Premier Sports subscribers will have watched it via Ch428 rather than on the BBC.

My copy of The Observer (bought in South Wales) has three quarter of pg 7 in the Sport section dedicated to the England v Ireland match report (albeit preceded by 6 pages of Union).
