| Anyone you thinks the better funded sides are not spending more on players than the measly salary cap allows is naive. The will be hundreds of ways to get around it which any half decent accountant can arrange.
If you do get caught not breaking the rules the the RFL invent something where you get done for breaking the spirit of the rules. So be it.

To be honest i don't care, let him spend what he wants, if he's willing to chuck money into the sport then good luck to him.

Not a clue. I'm certainly not Salford's accountant but i'd be fairly confident to say they didn't have much in the bank when he took over.

Fair enough.....it just strikes me he's not the sort to quietly pump cash into anything.....he certainly likes to get in front of camera and blow hard about his plans for the future though.

| £300k to Revenue and Customs, £70k in wages owed to 2013 playing squad, however much to pay off Phil Vievers, Brian Nobles wage, £112k to Cas for Rangi Chase, £50-90k to Wakefield for Tim Smith and an unknown sum to Wigan for Gareth Hock.
That's just off the top of my head.

| Operating costs and wages for staff/players for the season because we didnt have a bean in the accounts when he took over and our gate receipts certainly wont have covered that.

| We were 4.5 million in debt alone when Koukash took over. We have a plan in place to pay it off over 5years.

The Previous owner had already spent it in advance. We were in a financial mess.Literally didnt have a pot to in.The team had no kit,no training gear, not even enough rugby balls to train with.Didnt have enough players to fulfil our pre season friendly fixtures.Without the Docs intervention there is absolutely no doubt that we would have folded.

There aren't many ways to legally circumvent the salary cap, not without lying to the RFL which is a dangerous business as Melbourne found out. Many of the "loopholes" like image rights and EBT's were done with the full knowledge of the RFL as they were more tax loopholes rather than salary cap avoidances. In recent years those loopholes have been tightened by HMRC, something which has contributed to (along with the NRL salary cap rise and exchange rate) making it much more difficult to sign quality Aussies.
Win bonuses are counted, prize money isn't.
International bonuses are no longer counted but I think used to be, isn't that how Saints got in trouble a few years ago?
WAG's payments are counted but might still be better for the player re taxes
Payments from sponsors businesses are counted.

| Quote: Iain "Apologies if this is on another thread, I've not seen it anywhere else, but the Doc today announced that fans of all clubs who buy a season ticket before some date in October (can't remember exactly) will be entered into a draw to win the chance to name one of his horses, get tickets to all of its races for the first year, and get any winnings it makes in its first race.'"
I'm surprised nobody else has picked up on this. I think the clubs involved are Leeds, Bradford, Wakefield and Huddersfield. The details are sketchy (in fact, virtually non-existent) but it appears that if fans buy their season tickets early enough, they get entered into a draw where the prize is to name one of Marwan's horses, get taken to the races for its first race and to keep any money it wins that day.
That's evil Marwan trying to do something for the sport as a whole rather than adopting the silo mentality that some club owners have. There would be nothing to stop Simon Moran offering tickets to see granny dampening inanity warblers Take That, for example, but, like so many other club owners, he sees only his club.
You have to keep reminding yourselfbad[/i, Silent Simon [igood[/i.

If that's true surely it sounds pretty decent, even if the horse wins nowt.
