Normal service resumed I think they call it.'"
I would sooner the RFL hold out for a bigger money deal than sell the game short like they did last year with the Stobart deal.

as I said at the start of page 24 of this thread
Quote: Huddersfield1895 "Wait how long?
July they agreed with the wagonman than they would rip up the deal.....6 months later and they have crumbs from the sponsorship table from Foxy Bingo and Tetley with nobody obviously prepared to step up and offer the same level of cash and commitment that Engage showed (1.2 million a year over 7 years).
you have to wonder if the RFL has the right calibre of people in key roles, especially when other sports manage to secure good deals......
rlhttps://www.therfl.co.uk/news/article/24535/rfl-appoint-new-commercial-directorrl
....no major sponsor to date 10 months in the Job......especially after his opening statements!
The other guy I wonder about is Mr Lowry...who apparently single handedly made Man City the brand they are today...he's 11 months in the job and has added not a single thing of note...in fact, he presided over embarrassing attendances in the Play-offs and the internationals......
rlhttps://www.therfl.co.uk/news/article/24500/rfl-appoints-marketeerrl
I have seen pub teams and local leagues run better.....but I have no doubt the defenders of the RFL will see it diferently

clearly there are businesses out there that want to be associated with RL, there are some major brands involved in the game and club and national level, however the RFL have left themselves in the impossible position of selling something for £££ that they sold for nothing last year.

Wasn't that the fault of the clubs for discovering morals and turning down the cash from Betfair?

| What is the difference between money from Betting (or Bingo) companies or Beer companies?
They are all legal businesses and there is no reason not to have them as Sponsors.
Some people need to be answerable for their own actions when it comes to Gambling or Drinking.

Don't think all the clubs thought that...if memory serves me right both Hull clubs,Wakey,Cas and Salford voted for Betfair. Also the Hull chairmen was unhappy that Widnes got a vote due to conflict of interest

| I read that there are no restrictions on who they'll accept as a sponsor.

I know, but it's unfair to place all the blame, as some do, with the RFL, when the majority of clubs turned down cash. Wonder if those who did had ongoing deals with their own gambling partners?

| Doesn't seem to make much business sense to me to sponsor a club for a milion pound when you could sponsor an entire League for something similiar?

Initially there was only a minority of clubs willing to turn down the offer, it was Richard Lewis who stepped in and influenced the vote in a refusual.

...unless that entire league is confined to 3 column inches of reporting, Pay TV only and launches its season on the day the other lot start their international shenanegans Live on FTA TV across Europe....
2nd Feb, England v Scotland at Twickenham will attract 82,000...with a TV audience of over 5 million.....That's why 02 pay 5 million a year to be on a shirt that runs out only 10 times a year!
Also, Sonsorship has never been toomuch about business sense.......ask Allianz who arepaying one of the worst supported teams in the Aviva 1.5 million a year over 5 years to have a name on a shirt and a stadium.

| Getting a new main sponsor next year on the back of a (hopefully succesful world cup) wouldn't be terrible.

2 years with no paying sponsor is not a good thing...Starting this 2013 comp with no sponsor only further devalues the opportunity.
