No need to make fancy dan or high risk signings, Leigh. Many of the other Championship clubs are barely going to survive into next season, and that probably goes for some SL clubs as well.

Yes good luck to them. Beaumont has put the money in and at times that was hard to do when IIRC the Championship got salary capped at a lower level than the Superleague salary cap. He fought and won to get rid of that anomaly.
And he still kept putting it in, got Leigh promotion and they came 11th. But went down due to the ridiculous Blake Solly nonsense of the MPG.......
From where most of us are sat, Leigh is a gift horse to Superleague, quality ground, rich owner, and a club fans like to watch.
Yet here we are with Superleague seemingly bending over backwards to put TWP back into Superleague in return for a snake oil deal???

I couldn't dislike the man, he's a big RL fan, keen to bankroll a grand old club. He's had all sorts of nonsense to put up with yet he still continues to invest in the game despite all the stupid barriers put in his way. The lower Championship salary cap he had to suffer, and the the silly MPG nonsense come to mind.
Both things were removed after they caused him problems and cost him money, but he fought on.
Listened to the post match garbage Brian McDermott was spouting tonight. If only Mr. Beaumont had been the guest instead we could have been listening to something highly positive for the game. |

By my calculations, and correct me if I am wrong, but if you apply the revised points system being used in the 2020 Super League table to the 2020 Championship, then Leigh Centurions finish top ahead of Toulouse.
Both have 100% records, but Leigh have the superior points percentage
Calculation
Leigh 162 (points for) divided by 40 (points against) x 100 = 405
Toulouse 180 (points for) divided by 48 (points against) = 375

Well given the situation outlined by Sadler in League Express that if Superleague give Toronto the cold shoulder refusing to give Livolsi any central funding, which will lead to Livolsi just pulling out, then the door is wide open to someone to make up the twelve 2022.
But we may still be caught up in the constant feud between the RFL and Superleague as Leigh may get blocked by Toulouse if they didn't win the Championship next year and Toulouse did. Can't see Rimmer then doing anything other than inviting Toulouse in.
Sadlers revelation is that it's in the RFL's power to put "guests" Toulouse in SL if they win the 2021 Championship. It would be a terrible shame if this happened and Leigh missed out again. Wish you and Mr. Beaumont all the best.... |
