| Quote My Mate Ronnie="My Mate Ronnie"Around 10 years ago Wakefield & Castleford stated they were going to have new stadium built . I was a guest of Rapid Solicitors in February 2013 when wakefield beat Hull Kr 36-20. , Andrew Glover and his American wife were sat at the table next to us , On our table was a chap who told me he owned a post office in wakefield and was a club sponsor , he was telling me that the new stadium was imminent . The hospitality at Wakefield was excellent , Mr Glover even got =#FF0000The Loveable Rogues to play at our table for the kids .
Around the same time Castleford were announcing plans for a new stadium , I think it was when Superleague Stadiums were given a rating by the RFL or SL ? .
Neither Stadiums have come to fruition , I think Castlefords was planned to be built near XScape .
Why is it taking so long ? . genuine question . Why havent the two clubs got together and offered to groundshare this may help the development of a new stadium .'"
If we lived in a perfect world all teams would own a state of the art recently built stadium, that's full to capacity for each and every game. But we don't. If you took the time to read some of the threads on the Castleford and Wakefield forums, you might appreciate how frustrating it has been for groups of supporters who are still trying to move things forward. Most would have thrown the towel in due to bureaucrats and folk trying to make quick money obstructing any progress. I take my hat off to them for fighting on, and I hope one day they sit in the stadium that they deserve.
On a lighter note, I didn't know Rogues Gallery was a children's entertainer, nor lovable.

This.
At Leeds they’re finally finishing off the two main stands but back around 2010/11 Hetherington had hoped to have it done by 2014, but even a club of Leeds’ size and success that it was bringing to the city at the time still ran into hurdles with Leeds City Council. Also why the Western Terrrace at Headingley will remain the eyesore of what is otherwise a great modern looking stadium, not because Leeds don’t care about away fans get soaked in the rain.

| Neither club will ever get a new stadium. Castlefords isn’t “that” bad but Wakefield’s is shocking. That said, they won’t have the worst stadium this year in SL

| 5-6 years ago I'd have been appalled at the idea of a ground share with wakefield, now I'm not that fussed. Granted obviously I wouldn't fancy it in the heart of wakefield but could somewhere like Normy not be considered ? I find it highly unlikely that both sides will get successful projects any time soon.
Franchising going away has taken the pressure off somewhat.
From a selfish perspective I'm really not that bothered, I can't imagine I'd enjoy a new ground that much but looking beyond that it makes sense to have multi purpose sports facilities . I just don't see it anytime soon.

| Quote the artist="the artist"out of interest and not wanting to light the blue touch paper too much, but let's say there was a major h & s review of facilities across sport (similar to the taylor report) and both stadiums failed to meet the criteria. how would supporters feel if the option was to share 1 new ground or drop out of superleague and play at a lower standard'"
The feeling I get and it's been brought up already, that if a site in 'neutral' territory, say Normanton could be found, developed and it financially worked for both clubs as far as corporate, food & drink etc, i know the owners would jump at it and I also think the majority of fans would be happy, as long as the seating colours where done right .
I think we're all just sick of the whole false dawns and broken promises and dodgy developers tbh. I get the impression from what i hear and read, that both sets of fans have changed somewhat from the days of - not a chance would we share no matter where it is.

I hope so. I understand the reticence of fans to a ground share but I think it’s the best option for both clubs. It would have to be done properly though with due respect paid to both clubs in the design and layout of the stadium.

Best ground in league. Not a quality standard but close to the pitch, great atmosphere and good views all round.

I agree. Unfortunately like Wakefield it's also too old.
Belle Vue has held over 37k supporters in the past. If the stands could be brought back and concrete improved it could be great again. But it needs money and we don't have any.
I'm pleased the thread has stayed sensible (though thanks to Durham for keeping it that way)
The OP knows full well what the position is they are often on the Wakefield site but there is no doubt both clubs and supports of both clubs are working tirelessly to resolve their ground issues.
It's an emotive subject that trolls like to poke but it's so far down the line hardly anyone bites now.
In answer to the question raised, I'd share as long as it's an equal split. A new stadium is more about revenue than comfort. The clubs sharing have to gain benefit from it.
Anyone not wanting to wade through all the chat and wants to know how things stand, read BramleyRhino's post on page 1. Best summary I've seen.
