Cas have to go forward first and win some collisions they are just going side to side and Wigan are too smart for that. Maybe attacking the Cas end will help but it has to be a Cas score first or it looks like game over.

First half was hard work, super league has become so dire.

Cas haven’t taken the opportunities we have had to make Wigan’s defence work on their line. Almost every time we’ve been in the attacking 20 we’ve come up with a silly mistake or a wrong option (kicking on the second tackle, dropping the ball etc).
Lucky to only be 7 down in my view. If the attack clicks in the second half, Wigan will regret not putting more points on the board.

So typical, echoes of last years grand final with the unforced errors from cas. Everyone moans about no new teams on the trophy, teams like cas play at being a big team, they finish high up the table, beat the best teams in the league, but they never actually manage to, you know, win a major final!

Cas fans are learning a profound lesson tonight.

Difference between having Roberts playing instead of Trueman. Roberts kicks early. Trueman will attack the line. Big miss for us tonight.

So poor from Cas. Yet again, we are so poor in a big game.
The Cas players seem to think that we need to do different things in knock out rugby than we do all year (let’s be honest, we were lucky to win last year’s semi against St Helens). The number of errors due to stupid mistakes early in the tackle count, particularly in Wigan’s 20, is something we don’t see from Cas until it gets to a knock out game. Poor kicks on the first tackle, knock ons on the zero tackle and forward passes on the first tackle. We just seem to lose all composure at the most vital of times.
Again too, our best players go missing and seem to be overawed by these kind of games. I didn’t see anything from McShane or Gale, who should be directing the attack and maintaining the game-plan.
Having said that, take nothing away from Wigan. They were better in every single aspect of the game. From minute 1 to minute 80. For all Cas’ ineptitude, Wigan were excellent. Great discipline, great defence, excellent in collision and clinical in attack when they got the chance.
