| Quote: barham red "Is he really that good. Greg Eden has proved that on that wing you just need to be reasonably quick and play to the plan and the tries will flow. Not slagging Greg off as I like the kid but there are a raft of wingers in the league that would get 30+ tries in that team.
Put him in another SL team and he'd be no better than the likes of Broughton, Briscoe etc and no were near Ryan Hall.'"
Great wingers are ten a penny in League.
But England RU can't develop squat so they have to take foreign players or from RL.

'Team culture issues', not cultural issues regarding heritage

| wire-quin - I would about Burgess, Graham I wasn't completely sold on before he came to the NRL. The reality is there are probably 20 better wingers than him in the NRL. Quite possibly 3 or 4 in SL at least as good as well.

Must admit that comment surprised me too. Looking at the RL Hall of Fame there are 6 wingers in there. 2 were Aussies, 3 were from rugby union and 1 English (the late Mick Sullivan). I suspect to use of the word "great" was rather loosely used, in lieu of 'reasonable' I suspect.

| I guess what he meant is that we have plenty decent wingers in our game just now. Hall, Briscoe, Burgess, Eden, Broughton, Lineham, Swift, Johnson etc, which is a fair point.

Don't forget Jamie peacock asking for rangi chase to be called Roger. That was insulting and so ignorant. How it went pretty unoticed I don't know.
Rangi should have told him the days of the empire are long gone and he can shove his English name roger where the sun don't shine.
God knows what he would have done if we had a player called Mohammed or Khalid in the England squad.

Rather than we are a tight knit squad that will do everything we can to win the world cup, and letting the team down during a training week by drinking excessively wont be tolerated, as it doesn't fit with the culture that we are trying to engender. But hey lets throw the race card in there.

| Didn't Ikram Butt once make the England squad back in the late 80s, early 90s? Or did I imagine that?

| Not sure its institutional racism as such in Union, even though its the code of choice in fascist countries. Not sure its the drunken behaviour in itself, more probably it wasn't conducted in the proper manner with the correct public school songs, chants and rituals. You can't have too many of these common types around (unless they are really good) and the England RU are probably deluded enough to think that they are good enough at the moment to get away without them.
Anyway Solomona has that RL stain on him that will always make him unwelcome amongst the worst types in yawnion. Not that I feel the slightest bit sorry for him, he chose to go there.

Is Te'o next or can he go on a training camp without getting bladdered?

Mid-90s IIRC. Just around the time he was banged up in chokey.
