| Quote dubairl="dubairl"yeah and if you follow the line of conversation you would see i was answering to the poster that it hasn't just been poor teams that the youngsters have beaten. or should i mention that a lot of those youngsters are double winners as well or will you get sensitive with that as well?'"
Except you didn't really. A poster gave a fairly balanced opinion of Wigan and you came along with a childish 'still bitter and sensitive over last week' retort.

| Quote Levrier="Levrier"How fickle the fans are. Just look at the things written about the likes of Gelling, Dudson and especially Hughes a few weeks ago when, on the Cherry and white board, a number of fans were calling for them all to be sold off as soon as possible.'"
There are certainly a few fickle ones, we all have them. The consensus of most however was Gelling needed a run of games in his favoured position of centre which he is now getting, Hughes looked good when he first came on the scene but being tried as a centre has set him back a bit and to be fair hasn't been in good form. Dudson is an interesting one. He still young for a prop and certainly has size on his side, time will tell on him but he does need to get the petulant brain farts out if his game.
One hung we can't fault from any of them is commitment to the cause and you can't ask for much more than that.

Funny really all i said was that the Wigan youngsters have just beat the best team last week after he inferred we would beat a good team with the youngsters, and hat retort was to you not nobody else. I actually thought he was a giants fan, and that was later in the conversation when you posted because people are praising Wigan and not Leeds.
Like i said bitter and twisted.

Exactly what the majority have been saying but i did say Dudson has the potential to be the best prop at Wigan.

| The real message is just what an amazing coach Shaun Wane is. Every season we hear ( heck, we Wigan fans think it too ) ... " might be a struggle this year " and then more gems come through to not only do OK, but to excel. Very proud of the model rght now, Leeds the only team that come close and deserve credit too. But the number of people that still won't hear anything other than Wane is some sort of thick Gorilla is ridiculous. Evidence suggests he might just know a few things about rugby.

| When they played the Roosters, despite Matty Bowen having a poor game I thought they did really well and I remember saying that they wouldn't win anything this year but that 2 or 3 years down the line when these kids develop they would be a very good side indeed.
I was wrong, they are the best team in the comp already and in 2 years they will be frightening. The only thing that might stop them this year is if some of the youngsters freeze on the big stage, but there's no evidence that will happen so far.
The NRL comment is spot on, there are a handful of teams in Superleague good enough for the NRL, but in terms of their style Wigan look just like an NRL team. If they played over there they would be a playoff team without a doubt imo.

| Quote ThePrinter="ThePrinter"OP was fawning over Saints several weeks ago so to be taken with a pinch of salt. If Hudds go on a run they'll be next for an individual thread entitled "This Hudds Team"
Nothing we've seen in the last week from Wigan has really altered things in terms of who might win the big prizes come year end. They were/are always bound to be in contention.
If I were a betting man i'd say Leeds and Wigan will split the main prizes (GF & CC) one apiece. Probably the expected route (Leeds GF, failing in CC). This Wigan team have for a while now excelled around May time, nothing new there. But already they've had to get 'up' for the WCC, taking away Saints unbeaten start meant a lot to them as Wane highlighted, and the Leeds game was "best win ever".
With a big CC quarter to come followed by potentially the semis and final and then the playoffs I wouldn't be surprised if they were running on empty by September just like 2011.'"
Maybe wishful thinking on your part. We've learned a lot since 2011 and I doubt "running on empty" is that big a threat. Our squad depth is as good as ever and, more importantly, we are winning games without first choice players that we would have lost last season. The upshot of this is that we can rest players and cover injuries quite successfully so I really can't see us running on empty at any point.

| Wigan do look good but let's not get carried away. At the moment their youthful side is benefitting from a siege mentality that arises from being underdogs. I have my doubts that this can be carried through all season - the underdogs tag won't hold for long if they keep winning like this! Even kids will get tired if they are continually flogged the way they are at the moment (playing with injections etc). And eventually other teams will develop tactics to counter their current emphasis on basics rugby (hard drives, not giving the opposition space, and Matty Smith's kicking game). Once this happens Wigan will need some of their stars back to help them out in games in which they find themselves on the back foot.
As for other teams, I think Leeds could be in for a wobble soon after the recent run of tough games. Saints are still very much in the running for top spot, and Warrington and Huddersfield should start to improve as well. It will be interesting if Cas can maintain their excellent form now that the pitches are beginning to harden... This is when minnow teams who make good starts traditionally start to falter. All in all the season is shaping up well though.

| Can't believe some people are being so bitter.
Its a cracking young side and I can understand some people being jealous, but bitter?
Come on, credit where credits due.
They are a great side to watch.

| They do look brilliant at the moment but to be fair, just a couple of weeks ago I'd have said the same about us (and so did FlexWheeler ha!) and thought Wigan looked poor. Form is fickle, anything can happen between now and October as we've seen time and time again over the last 5 years. It really could be any combination of teams in the grand final this year, depending on Leeds living up to their potential, Wigan keeping their fabulous form, Saints regaining some passion and aggression, Castleford's bubble bursting (or not), Huddersfield finally playing to their potential and even Warrington could be dark horses. Could be the most interesting season in a number of years anyway!

Being our natural predator in finals, many leeds fans have an inferiority complex when it comes to wigan. No doubt theres lots of bum twitching here in leeds at the moment, as any hopes of silverware are looking likely to be dashed with each passing week that wigan improve their position near the top.
