| Thats not the problem with him at all. The problem with him is he knows he has a short career to maximise his earnings, and like any of us would he is taking the steps he needs to to do so. That goes totally against those in charge of RL, and somehow the fans that watch it, who have, for reasons yet to be determined, taken a standpoint that says players should be willing to sacrifice their earnings to play the game, that players should willingly earn less than they otherwise would, for the chance to entertain us, and not only that, they must do it with a smile on their face lest they be cast out of the game and referred to as greedy for the rest of their lives.
Israel Folau had the option of taking whichever pathway appealed most to him, he is in demand and a quality athlete like him is rare, and as such valuable. RL does as much as it can to make itself as unattractive as possible to players like him, then blames them when they want no part of it. Israel Folau isnt the problem, Rugby League is the problem.

The latest reports suggest that Israel Folau may play rugby union for 1 year only, perhaps with an eye to returning to rugby league in 2014 when the salary cap issues have been resolved and many clubs will have more space for him under their salary caps.
www.smh.com.au/rugby-union/union ... 2aozr.html
However Parramatta may have soured on him, which could leave an opening not only for othr NRL clubs, but also perhaps for a Super League club with salary cap space.

Are you familiar with the recruitment mentality of Wigan?

Lenegan is about making wigan a profitable and successful club......wasting money on a wing in the hope of shifting a few more tickets isn't his way.........French union and a wannabee shirt is the immediate future for izzy....if he was a 6, 7 or even a 9, then yep, maybe look at him on a reasonable salary, but for a wing?

Israel Folau would likely play centre, not wing. That is where he played for Brisbane.
He would greatly exceeed the performance of George Carmont in that position, and make Wigan a powerhouse once again.
If Hock leaves for Parramatta in 2014 then Ian Lenagan will have more space under the salary cap for Israel Folau.

There's space......and then there's SPACE.
RL in Europe can't compete with the French RU euros on offer.....Izzy will chase cash.
As for Wigan being a 'powerhouse" again, I suspect they can do that without an injury prone player who believes his own press.
Google his name.......every hit is an australian website other than wiki.....he's a household name in 2 australian states....nothing more, nothing less and a smart businessman like IL won't waste cash on the little mercenary.

You think any SL club can afford to use 40% of their salary cap on one player?

| A sl club would have to offer a third of their cap!
He's a money whore, I dom't blame him for that just the way he pretends he isn't.
Remember how he behaved during origin and the end of season internationals?

| There's no way the Waratahs have a million a season to spend on a guy who will take at least a year to make the side.
This is just Folau's manager trying to talk up his worth.
League should walk away.

| I certainly don't blame the NRL for not landing him back.
Its a bit of mercenary attitude just looking for the highest bidder all the time not where you will also play or do your best.
Not before too long the next superstar young person will come along in the NRL and it will be a case of Israel who??? and its not as if the
NRL is short of existing top talent anyway.
