Starbug, this is a relevant point and not a pointless rant that has been cut and pasted from every other thread you comment on.

I agree with Derwent, and it's partly the point I was making about the 'carrot' at the end of the season, without P&R I think the Grand Final should have the biggest prize fund, that will make a big difference to the winner in the following season, and maybe for a SL application in the future.





That's the way of the world these days though isn't it? Most sporting events are didtated to by the TV companies, problem with the Championship is Premier Sports havn't paid for the privilage.

Sunday's are the way to go for Leigh, I get the corporate arguement though, but maybe that discussion would be more relevant on the Leigh board.

So in the interest of ' debate ' explain how having a bigger financial prize for the Championship GF winners will increase attendances?

Not forgetting you wanting to discuss the ' matches ' only, and I havent seen many expressions of interest from SDL fans to suggest they will be attending any of the Championship play off matches

Why have you put ' debate ' and ' matches ' in quotation marks? It's really confusing. The only correct use would be if you were being ironicle, but you're clearly not.

It would increase interest among the players/owners, but I dont see how it would attract more fans, that is the question I was asking

on this thread, only the actual matches, I just pointed out there didnt seem much interest expressed by the SL fans your OP was aimed at

I just struggle to read it sometimes when people put punctuation in sentences that isn't needed, it comes across with a message that shouldn't be there.

I know a Wakey fan was at the Fax game, but he's on the turn to becoming a Leyther.

I think SL fans do care, but it's so expensive to watch their own club, as well as a Championship club that they don't bother.

I'd like some of them to come on with an opinion though.

It would make the competition more important to the clubs, therfore the fans.

In the current situation with no P&R if a club won promotion and had a big prize fund, they could and would use that money to build the fanbase for a SL application.

No they wouldnt, the bulk of it would go to the players/coaches as bonus, the rest would help to cover losses

I disagree, but can't see the point in a 'yes they would', 'no they wouldn't' arguement.

But the point of the thread is that the playoffs this year look uber competitive and exciting, no games can be predicted. I agree that it deserves more attendance and this is due to no P&R, but it's here for now and i'm going to enjoy it so i'm trying to tell people about how good it is.

So you want me to pay money to watch something I have lost interest in, something I am finding boring and uninspiring, in fact something that I find incredibly frustrating and annoying?
