| So was I actually.
More evidence in favour of my argument.
If Leeds could get not far off 40,000 to Elland Road against Canterbury for the WCC 2005, Wigan - as a traditionally better supported club (before the Leeds fans jump in I am talking over a sample say the size of the 20th Century and a bit of this one) - should be aiming for 45,000 min for this game.

| Incidentally, the sides for the SCG match 1962, St George v Great Britain, were:-
St George (5)
Graham, Lumsden, Brown, Gasnier, King, Clay, O'Bryan, Raper, Provan (c), Ryan, Porter, Walsh, Wilson.
Res...Riley and Armstrong.
Great Britain (33)
Round, Boston, Ashton (c), Fox, Southward, Bolton, Murphy, Turner, Huddart, Edgar, Herbert, Sayer, McTigue. Res...Carlton and Gilfedder.
I've got to say...any of us will be lucky to see a Great Britain or England side as good as that one ever again.

| If the DW is deemed big enough for Ashes Test matches then that'll do for me. I'd much rather see Wigan's ground packed out than 35k at Anfield, Eastlands or wherever else.

One thing to remember.
Leeds = Huge city
Wigan = Small backstreet town.
Wigan could probably get 45k like i said. 60k+ not. a. chance.

I'll comment on this type of thinking again elsewhere.

| I get where you're coming from I really do, and certainly in other areas I'd much rather see bigger thinking. However as it stands the WCC makes a lot of money.
If you take the recent RU examples of club games at Wembley, sure they got some great crowds, some decent press but they lost a lot of money due to the cost involved. The RFL simply doesn't have this sort of money to gamble with.
If they could fill Anfield at 45,000 then tbh, I dont see how anyone couldnt see that as a resounding success, what was last years? 28k or something? (i actually dont know)

| I acknowledged Anfield as a good plan B a while back.
I would still be disappointed if you guys took it.

| Take it to Wembley and announce it ASAP. Take advantage of the ex-pats down there, and the fact that Wigan haven't been to Wembley in over a decade (which before then seemed like they were there every year). Could work really well, and would be a great chance to boost interest in not only this game but the sport down south.
