| Fine, if Tomkins deserved red then what did Mcguire deserve? Or is this the usual anti Wigan crap? and what about Lauitiiti, or again do we just focus on and bitch about Wigan???

You are trying to defend the indefencible by bringing McGuire into your weak argument. Tomkin deliberately aimed a kick at McGuire whilst he was on the floor, a cowardly act which should have been rewarded with a red card, and he can thank McGuire for not making a meal of it and the ref for not having the b*ll*x to send him off.

Im not trying to defend the indefencible, im not even arguing that Tomkins shouldnt have been punished, so how the hell its a weak argument i'll never know. Its a fair point, alot of you are crying into your cereal demanding Tomkins should have gone, but im not seeing anyone arguing that McGuire should be punished or Lauitiiti. Im sorry if this forces you to focus on more than one incident as biased fans like you hate that, you only like to focus on something a Wigan player did.

The thread is about Joel Tomkins. However distasteful some of Leeds antics were, nothing else that happened in the game alters the fact that he intentionally kicked an opponent.

| To be fair to Tomkins he was simply reacting to the two elbows he copped from McGuire. Not the ideal way to react, but the penalty he conceded ultimately had a bearing on the result. I thought the game was quite niggly at times and was amazed it got into the last ten minutes before it boiled over.

Tomkins was an act of malice, kicking out at an opponent. Whereas McGuire was a professional foul. Chalk and cheese! Tomkins should have walked (Or carried if McGuire wasnt a sh*thouse and got up and stuck one on him) and McGuire should have got 10 minutes

| The refereeing inconsistency is pathetic. If he can see enough of the incident to penalise Tomkins how can he justify not sending him off?
Disgraceful play whether he hurt him or not. Coward.

The same way he can decide that Donald wasn't late on Richards then cave in and change his decision on the basis of the touch judge and VR persuading him he was wrong. No arguments with that last play resulting in Wigan getting a penalty, but it should have been back on their own 40 where McGuire pulled Carmont back.
Until Alibert grows a pair and has the confidence to back his own decision making he shouldn't be operating at the top level I'm afraid.
As for Tomkins, until the pair of them rein in their egos and realise that other people are allowed to touch them without it being a penalty neither will live up to their promise.

Don't be silly Ryan Bailey is a total thug and his stats this year prove it. 19 Penalties given away compared to Joel's 33 penalties and 2 yellow cards...oh wait. Infact you have to go back to 2008 for him to have a higher penatly count than Joel. I'm sure it will all be put down to Bailey been a cheapshot merchant who runs away etc etc etc
Joel should of got 10 for the kick out. Mags accidently hit him with the elbow while spinning. Then something was obviously said between them resulting in Mags pushing out with his arm. It should only get a warning for future conduct, but they might take his discipline record into count.

Have you ever played RL? McGuire's elbow was totally accidental and happens a lot of tackles. This is RUGBY LEAGUE

McGuire should be grateful it wasn't Ben Thaler in the middle - his elbow was about as deliberate as the one Mark Bryant got penalised for in the Crusaders game.
The RFL desperately needs to try to get referees involved who have played the game at a reasonable level and understand why things happen as opposed to just reacting to the crowd/players around them all the time.

For some reason i just got the image of Barrie McDermott in a ref uniform. As soon as it kicked off i don't think he'd be in there trying to break it up
