| Quote: eels fan "People had a choice back then like they do today.
I'm all for people getting as much as they can, why not.
The only thing I'm not happy about is the fact that when RL got players from Union, it was the individual clubs going after players, these days we have the people running the code paying for players out of spite and then deciding where they'll play them, not clubs doing it out of strengthening their team.
That in my opinion is a big difference.'"
The strength of RU is the international game and everything is geared towards that. The clubs are basically funded from the income generated by the internationals.
It is no surprise that the RU bosses identify potential international players from RL and target them. They then act in the best interest of the international game and place players where they believe they will receive accelerated development.
RU is a bit like the AFL in that they know the sport is bigger than the sum of its parts and that acting for the common good delivers significant benefits.
Sadly RL is less than the sum of its parts because the strength is in the club game and fighting for the common good simply doesn't enter the heads of the CEOs of the clubs

Given we struggle get coverage I can't see the NRL being prime time in Burkino Faso, Chad and the Gazza strip.
There is a difference between someone having the rights and actually broadcasting the games - be interesting to know how much they paid for them; that would give you an indication of how valuable they are. Most likely they will have included free in a package that includes Neighbours and Home and Away.

| Doesn't matter to me how much they paid for the rights as long as people can watch the matches be it either expats or others new to the game.
3 games a week in the UK with live origin, tests and the GF on Sky should do the UK fans.
That's more games from the NRL shown each week over there than the SL gets.

Agree; 4 games this week - but the three games a week is a trial for two months; then they will charge for it. If the demand isn't there we will be back to five games a year.

Paragraph 1 = wow, that's a shock (Clive also reminds us soot is black)
Paragraph 2 = makes the sport a joke that players are "placed" (giggle) but it fits in with the charade
Paragraph 3 = try telling them that in Australia
Paragraph 4 = that point has some truth to it; of course the formation of the IC tends to suggest otherwise
Occasionally you do add more than spelling errors...
But it is still written from the point of view of a rah rah everytime. You should try a few new songs...the old ones are very, very boring by now.

You want to try reading your dribble - boring would be an understatement!!
When did you last post anything that didn't contain some personal criticism of the post you are responding too? Completely unneeded but makes you feel like a big man and helps you overcome your inferiority complex?
Nobody takes you seriously - you have a massive chip on your shoulder - I have stated on another thread why I think that is

When you can explain to me why you bunch of union trolls frequent rugby league boards then you can comment on any perceived "inferiority" complex...
Given I have no qualms at all with my fulfilling life, it would seem to be mere projection on your part, Woody lad.

That is only reason I can think why you have such an inferiority complex!!! Next time you are England give me a shout - it would be great to embarrass you in public
Look I attend every Rhinos game including the away games - both my sons play open age Rugby; so I attend approximately 3 games a week - I haven't watched a game of union since my kids played it school. I write a report every week on here on the Rhinos - maybe you need to get your facts straight before you start calling people trolls?
Unlike you I understand there is a life outside of the NRL - and other sports have both great athletes with a lot of skill and ways of managing their sport that RL can learn from.
Problem for you is your seldom ever attend a game - typical keyboard warrior - sad individual - you really need to get out more!!!
