IMO the RFL needs to look at the fixture structure in the Championship and Championship1. One way to mend it would be to merge the two divisions and run the NRC as a straight knock out contest. Therefore Leigh need not worry.
I would assume even if relegated they could apply for a franchise winning promotion straight back and winning the NRC to earn their tick in the box.
