What was the offer "first team rugby"?

| I actually think that Dobson would have gone very well at saints, he probably is the form 7 in SL at this time. That said, i'd rather have faith in our youth system. Hull KR will most likely lose Dobson next time as he will want NRL/SOO/rep honours. If just one one our lads makes it big time, they will most likely be with us for a decade.
The futures bright, the futures "home grown"

| Thank god he's not gone to Saints is all I can say!
He's the best 7 in superleague by a distance at the moment yet not as good as Eastmond
Nothing against Eastmond but he has a long long way to go before he's even considered a superleague quality scrum half.
One of the first things he has to do is prove he can string a few games together.

I completely agree, alot of saints fans are getting ahead of themselves with kyle. He hasn't done anything wrong, and in the small glimpses we've seen of him he looks great, but as you say without a string of games under his belt noone can be sure if his potential can be turned into onfield stardom.
Still, we will have loads of cover at 7, not on huge wages so hopefully we can afford a couple of monster props to destroy defences and wont even need a great 7

It's going to be interesting to see who takes the 7 shirt at Saints out of Eastmond, Smith and even Wheeler.
Whoever it is they have a big job on their hands and Pryce at the side of them will really have to take plenty of responsibility on his shoulders.

| I think DObbo suits SL, his style of play doesn't suit the NRL at all I don't think, and from that I think he is one of the leagues better halves.
In saying that I can't see what Saints would need in him, Saints have already passed out some of the saving from letting longy go to a couple of our young players, and I think there are more to come too.

| Why would Dobbo leave a small pond where he is the big fish anyway, he's on silly money at KR and Saints will get a far better player than him if they feel they need to sign someone.

That doesn't mean that every player in every other team isn't good enough for the mighty Saints, though. Dobson has arguably been the best performer in SL this year and to say "He isn't good enough for Saints" without justifying it is pure arrogance.
I can completely understand why Saints fans wouldn't want him and would rather see youth come through, but that doesn't mean he isn't good enough.

| Dobson would have just been a stop gap for Saints as some have said. The liklihood is that he will leave after his contract is up in 2 years. If St Helens had signed him would Eastmood still be hanging around waiting for first team opportunities?
Better to go with the youth and allow them to prove their worth then to waste what they've spent years developing by shipping in a Aussie for 2 years.

a small pond?........that small pond has stuffed your club a few times recently, so does that make you club 'pond life'?
