| Sorry, not familiar with the Widnes away shirt and assumed it was a Liverpool one.
I was not however implying they are all football fans causing trouble before we get started on that route again, I merely thought it was a Liverpool shirt.

| Maybe best way to deal with this and diffuse the situation, is to have an amnesty and allow the trouble makers to own up come forward and get a fine to charity and some community work. Those that then don't ban them from RL For life.

Sorry, entering the pitch was a criminal act criminal activity and a donation to charity cannot allow them to escape justice.

"Leeds is the greatest club in Rugby League"
Alex Murphy 2011: |

| Quote: Hightown Tiger "Although that mascot (who had his head removed) did seem to slip, the very same person in the Liverpool shirt tries to knock over the other Castleford mascot...I wouldn't call this just a tap (watch at the 2 minute mark)......
Yes, the lad shoves the mascot in the back, I'm not on about that. Inspector Clouseau has stated on a couple of occasions that someone punched a mascot in the head, he backs it up with a couple of still images. He is in fact clearly wrong, when viewed in real time the Widnes fan taps the mascot on his head, who then goes down like a felled tree. Let's not start telling porky pies. It was clearly an unsavoury incident, but the way some folk are carrying on you'd think we'd had World War Three.

That Sir is where you are wrong. I have it on very good authority Denis 'I never saw anything happen' Betts attempted to join the Widnes fans on the pitch, only the actions of a quick thinking steward who chained him by his ear prevented that from happening as you can see at 0:30 here:

Could have been a whole lot worse....

I'll need to look again but it looked more than a "tap" when I watched the other day.
Edit - watched a different video and see what you mean. Maybe the other mascot got hit a bit harder. None of it defends what the knuckle draggers did though.

First I don't appreciate the "Clouseau" jibe, I have posted my views as to the images I have seen and you are free to disagree. Don't show yourself up.
The straight arm, clenched fist punch very clearly shown in the images is just what i said. To describe it as a "tap" is frankly silly and just discredits anything else you say. The only thing the punch didn't do is connect flush. Which I also already said.
Secondly the mascot didn't "go down like a felled tree". He steps to his right and then just overbalances backwards, basically sitting down on his arrse. He then gets up. Nobody is making any more of it than that. He doesn't roll around feigning injury or whatever. He just stands up and walks in pursuit of his head. You seem to be blaming him for being punched and accusing him of faking. I think you have issues if that's the case.

Who's been carrying on like we've had WW3? It was extremely unsavoury and I can imagine frightening for both Cas and Widnes fans. Just because no ones died shall we pretend it didn't happen?
The implications could be huge for RL.
The images were all over every single national newspaper, broadcast live on BBC, and were even on ITV news (never known them to broadcast anything about RL)
We struggle to attract sponsors as it is, I can't see the images of Sunday encouraging people to invest on the sport.

| People are taking LeedsOwl seriously? Pretty sure he's the guy with 2 troll accounts, one as a Leeds fan and one as a Wakey fan.
There's a reason he's ignore listed.

From memory, ITN used to deliver a half decent news service in the 60's and 70's. However, I was young at the time.

Wrong as it was it's hardly a bank robbery or a terrorist attack. Or hardly an 80,style football riot. And has I have said if they don't own up then throw the book at them.

I'm not saying it was, but entering the field of play IS a criminal offence. As soon as you start offering "deals" for people to pay their way out of been charged it's a massive can of worms (and indeed unethical).
In addition, most have committed public order offences.
Some are looking at criminal damage charges.
This bloke with the red shirt and black jacket on might be looking at common assault charges. On all the videos his behaviour is actually the worst as he appears to assault a number of people without any provocation and from behind.

There was 50 Hull FC/Hull KR fans in that stand at the game, we all showed restraint and didn't get involved.
