... And this is why RL supporters will never understand Union fans attending in large numbers games that RL fans would deem unworthy of spending a brass farthing on, and why the Olympics was a success in terms of crowds and financial revenues etc. the RLWC Final is an event. It does not really matter who is in the final, it is an event that comes once but 4 years or in the case of RL in often random fashion.
So England are not in the final, yes that is disappointing BUT it does not diminish the importance of the RLWC FINAL as an EVENT.
Go and loving enjoy it as an EVENT you will have to wait another 8 years to see in the UK again.

Whether they come back or not, I doubt many will have had a bad experience of the RLWC.'"
You could bemoan it all you want. But for all the people who doubted the RFL beforehand (myself included), they really have excelled, and learnt their lesson, they tried to branch out in 2000, if i've been informed correctly the tickets were more expensive, and as a result poor sales.
This time, they've branch out where they deemed appropriate, with great success in Bristol and France, albeit underwhelming in Wales and Ireland, but nevertheless a great effort, and broke stadium records throughout.
I'm proud of the way our sport has come across, pretty much my whole entire timeline (Liverpool is just a football town, the majority don't even know what RL is), was banging on about how amazing that game last week was, up against a Merseyside Derby. Sorry, this sounds like an attack on you, it really isn't, i'm agreeing!
My Only regret is, that i never took to it more in January when i bought my first batch of tickets, sat down 5 weeks ago watching England Vs. Australia, i ended up buying tickets to 7 more matches, introducing several new people to the game too, because the pricing was accessible. 500,000 will have attended the matches of this world cup, and millions more worldwide.
What an effort, and everyone down to the fans, should be proud of this world cup.
Carry on the legacy now!

| Record attendance for an international rugby league game. Fourth attendance of over 60k for a rugby league game in this country in the last three months (Grand Final, CC Final, WC Semi, WC Final).
Not bad for a game supposedly being mismanaged to its inevitable demise.

Boooooo
Gutterfax, I actually agree with some of the things you say and accept when you compare to other sports under criticism from others but you have to accept this one.
The WC attendances have been great and the 4 game attendances referenced have been outstanding.
Moan at the other stuff if you like but credit where it is due.
