| Quote: tigertot "So, just to be clear, the legal tackle didn't end his career as he went on to play for York & Scarborough into his 30s? I wouldn't wish that on anyone but Pearce wasn't good enough to play top level RL, which I would suggest is as much a reason. Gibbs was one of the most destructive players I have seen. To say he deliberately set out to end another players career is pathetic.'"
Yes it did end his career, his Hull career was over after that, yes he played a handful of lower league games but in essence he was finished after that viscous tackle. Yes I do belive Gibbs deliberately did it, you don't dive head first at someones prone isolated leg and not know the consequences of that, he set out to maim him and succeeded, Gibbs had a repution, for pure violence, especially on degensless kickers, flying elbow on Joe Lyndon in WCC another example, he was not a destructive player he was a thug, and thankfully players like him are not Longer in our game. I have seen some very tough players in my time and someone of them sometimes went too far, les Boyd, kurt Sorensen etr can. But they could all play a bit too, Gibbs could not.
If yo think those sort of tackles are fine then you are the pathetic one

Don't bother asking the RFL to justify their decision like I did when Zeb Taia took Joey Lussicks head off. I questioned why the panel said penalty sufficient, when if they had bothered to watch the match they would have realised the incompetent ref didn't even award a penalty !!
They sent me this.

| Well the rfl have acted decisively, so just remember kids you can do what you like when you like to who ever you like on a rugby league field.
In the end the rfl will just sack the ref and all will be right.
Well played rfl, we move a step closer to footballs attitude to refs and a stride away from the way rugby union treats referees.

I have some sympathy with the RFL here. They'd never be given a minute's peace from the likes of Hill and Tomkins if they did otherwise.

| Kenneth Edwards is being let go by Catalans to join Huddersfield in 2020 perhaps because Catalans are tired of him being suspended.

Are you just starting your shift jean and perhaps a little fatigued?, it's not often you come up with an error like that with your insistance on using the full christian names.
Not being up to speed re Kenneth Edwards if he's out of contract at the end of the season then he wouldn't be let go by Catalans, just a thought as I know you will be all over it so to speak.

Spot on, it’s very rare that I agree with Phil Clarke but he’s got it spot on here, both clubs should be in the doc so to speak, and hanging childs out to dry sends out the wrong message

| Poor old James Child. Apparently the fans don't like him, the coaches blame him for everything and now even the RFL are ting on him. The poor guy can't win, even when he does nothing wrong.

I couldn't agree more - and it wouldn't be at all surprising if Mr Child decided to resign based on a loss of trust and confidence in his employer; leaving the RFL with an employment tribunal claim, and 1 less senior referee in its ever decreasing talent pool.
It's a pathetic decision and a dangerous precedent, which sends entirely the wrong message to players, coaches and officials.

He can go for making his position untennable, the RFL are disgusting, but what is to be expected of any organisation involving a Hetherington.

What is Hetherington's involvement with the RFL?
