I do not think either team will do as well as last year BUT Hull KR seem to have strengthened a lot less than the Giants have this season
same kind of people putting wakey at 12 and hull in top 5
it's all about opinions DG and there are often strange happenings come the season

[quote="Rogues Gallery":xjc47q2r]Wire - the enigma. They could finish top or eighth, who knows.[/quote:xjc47q2r]:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_7749.jpg |

| Quote: pyeman "Maybe king will be that good, but i'm basing this on form rather than possible future form, last season he wasnt as good as shenton. I agree with you that baille is a good centre, with age on his side, and its great that france has backs of his calibre, once again though he wasnt as good as shenton.
As i've said i think Whatuira and Carmont are comparable to shenton but not better.
If you are going to build a backline around a centre, i think the one that scored more than other centres in the league, who is an england interntaional, and was englands best defensive back in the 4 nations, is a good a place to start.'"
In the second half of the season King was arguably our best player.

when his other two centres were a full back and a half back it wasnt surprising he was the best defensively
I personally cant see Shenton getting close to he level of say Senior. I dont think he was close even last year to an ageing Senior. When we lose him at the end of this year or next i worry about just how difficult it will be to replace him. In Britain there really isnt anyone comparable (bar Gidley)
And i still think Whaturia et al are better players who would have played for England ahead of Shenton this winter had they been eligable

I didnt say he was the best defensive centre i said he was our best back in defence, only a few of our forwards contributed as much to the defence as shenton.
I think shenton will be a better centre than senior ever was, he has more natural skill than senior and has more pace than senior ever had. If senior was at somewhere like say salford, i dont think anyone would consider him anything more than a good player, just my opinion, i'm sure your have own on the matter Fortunatley for senior he plays in a dominant team where he doesnt have as much to do in defence as shenton and is normally running at tired defensive lines.

To be honest thats absolute rubbish.
Senior twice scored more tries playing for Sheffield in a year than Shenton did last year(his best year). Senior has been named in the world x111 3 times in a row, has won every (uk) club competition in the game more than once. Shenton has done nothing. he scored 24 tries in 2002 (1/3rd more than Shenton did in his best season) a year when leeds won nothing and scored more again in 2000

You may think so, i think much the same of many (if not most) of your opinions, my opinion is that if you think somethings wrong its probably right, for a long time i thought you were a troll in the mould of barry mackenzie (though eventually i realised that you actually believe what you type).
The only source i can find for seniors tries whilst at sheffield says he scored 55 tries in 5 years, so some of the years he was with at sheffield he may have scored more, but he certainly didnt score more every year.
As for the world 13 quite often the selection for it are up for debate, few people would agree with everyone named in the world 13 every year, for instance both gidley and lyon were better centres than senior.
What his team has won is no indicator of how good a players is, ryan bailey has plenty of winners medals, but he is nowhere near the best prop in the country.
I think we should agree to disagree on this as i have no interest into getting into another cut and paste boreathon with you.

Senior scored more in the 1996 and the 1998 season whilst playing for Sheffield than Shenton has done in his best ever season. thats two of his 4 seasons (not 5, he played SL 96-99 with Sheffield) with Sheffield he scored more than Shenton has ever done in a year
your assertation that Senior would struggle in a poor side is plainly nonsense. He played in a poor side and achieved more than Shenton ever has, He has won every UK club competition more than once. He has played over forty internationals
If shenton becomes half the player Senior is then he will have done well

Seriously?????
I like shenton but he never will be half the centre Senior has been, just look at the tries scored by Seniors winger past and present plus he's played a key role in every trophy his teams have won!
He'd walk into ANY SL team and still at 33 is the best british left Centre out there.
As for the skill and pace when has Shenton shown more than Senior has??

Shenton is one of the fastest players in the league so he's clearly got more pace now, and ever compared to Senior, he has good hands and even a kicking game he has the POTENTIAL to be better then Senior, and he's still only early 20's.

Better than ? Strong statement that matey. Shenton's good, but Senior has achieved so much in his career and he has been at the top level for a long time, that takes some matching. (I'm not saying I like Senior btw )

So really you have one dedicated winger (sheriffe) and 3 fullbacks (platt, reardon, halley)?'"
Reardon is our dedicated winger this season along with Sheriffe. Platt -when playing- will most likely be at centre (Where he has actually been impressive).

I've only seen him drop maybe 3 out of all the games he played at FB last season. Honestly, that is the least of my worries when we've had Platt at the back for two seasons.

| It's almost impossible to judge Shenton's ability against Keef's when one plays for the best team in the country and gets quality service and the other doesn't and doesn't.
I'd still have Senior down as the better player (And by some distance).
Shenton looks a likely lad but for me has never really looked that dangerous at centre. Has he ever played fullback? He looks like your average NRL fullback physically, which is far from a bad thing.

thats a fair point, we dodged a bullet there. at wakey halley stuggled a bit under the bomb but he more than made up for it in other areas of his game. his enthusiasm and work ethic on top of his actual ability were especially pleasing. was disappointed when you took him back
