| Quote: miscreant "It was a bloody great try....think of the context....the clock counting down.....Catalan extending their best start to a season.....it was awesome. Some people !
At the risk of being accused of sour grapes, the opportunity for the try should never have been offered in the first place. Aside from Saints dire defensive performance in the final 20, on the set before that try was scored, Pryce hit the floor with his ball carrying arm with our defenders on him. We were not awarded the penalty as it was missed by the ref (but is very clear on Sky). Had the ref seen that - and I think he must have been blind to miss it - then we would have been up the other end of the pitch attacking during those last two minutes.
So while it was an exciting end, it was a fortuitous one for the Dragons, care of Mr Child.

No, Warrington fan and i was made up with the try, not saying it was a bad try but there are people calling it one of the best tries of superleague ever. The ball was dropped, mis-kicked and a real scramble it was finished well, an exciting try and significant but there were many better executed tries with more aestically pleasing play scored his weekend.

Sour grapes
Saints got away with a few as well, despite what your coach would try to have us believe.

| Even if correct, you can't call one missed penalty as causing a change in result - no matter when it occurred in the game. If I were Simmons I'd be more worried about why the score was so close in the first place.

| It was a try with plenty of tension at the very end of a game.
Hot Potato keep the ball alive stuff that was good to watch.
It was pretty patchy defending and scrappy attack with plenty of luck involved in much of the play.
No where near a classic try in my opinion.

| Wouldn't it be boring if every try every week was from a set piece move and was finished with clinical precision?
For the sheer endeavour, desperation and drama, it was an outstanding effort.

| Thats right Bren.
But the best tries are the ones that see extraordinary tries scored against sound defensive structures and unlock those defensive patterns or ad lib the play so much that it can not be defended against.
Catalans try was entertaining and as much luck as skill.

"I'm a great believer in luck and I find that the harder I work, the more of it I have."
The only really lucky part was the Cats player who tried to kick the ball into the in-goal area and missed - the rest was a result of sheer effort and refusing to give up; Menzies decision to push the ball back instead of trying to find the ground was a moment of genius, as was Dureau's flick pass and Millard's step.
For the purist, I agree, watching a team break open a defence with bodies in motion, clinical passing and dummy runners is a joy; for the non-expert neutral, the Cats try and the context within which it was scored will have done more to ignite their interest in RL than watching any of the above.

To be fair, after watching the billion replays Ganson was making of each moment during the VR decision, I got the impression that had Menzies caught the ball, he would have fallen over the line and scored himself.
Still, in the heat of the moment he wouldn't have realised that, and what followed was entertaining - especially the cheers from the saints fans when Blanch got the ball out (did they think it was a knock on?) only for play to carry on.

From the West Terrace, it looked as if the tackle was complete. Cue hugging jumping and cheering, followed by the awful moment of "oh fsck nuggets, they got the ball out!"
The rest, as they say, is history.

| Millard's try was try of the month and no doubt try of the season.
As for comments about the ref, well Saints have conceded 12 tries and 70 points in the past two games so someone has to get the blame from the coach.
Not him of course but someone else, namely the ref!
As John Monie said "Only complain about the referee when you've won".

| Millard's try was fantastic. If anyone has watched the wigan cas highlights watch charnleys first try. From a tap restart 10 in on one side to Charnley scoring in the corner within 5 passes and literally seconds, a brilliant try.
