Quote: Mark_W "Read tonight that St.Albans centurions club have sold 800 tickets for Wembley. I have also read people question why it is held in London ...'"

Amazing effort from Gary, Tony, et al. Just read their website - estimated that 90% of tickets bought by people who've not been to a RL match before.

I just hope we can get over the c. 73,000 that Wembley attracted to the World Cup Final previously. That would be great.

Quote: Dunbar "84k to 41k a season later, that's one pretty dramatic fall in attendance. I can think of a particular thread on these boards that would be going into meltdown if it was Rugby League'"

They promoted the 83K game as a world record attempt...... I believe they git 38k the year before that game and 44k the year before that.....so no, not a massive drop, just a change in emphasis. NB; Bloke that marketed the 83k game is employed for the Big Hit....he's also CEO of Melbourne Storm now....bloody unionite eh icon_lol.gif

Saracens know how to market games. I suggest you go to B&Q......buy some wood......build a bridge....and get over it!

My teenage kids stopped saying epic fail 5 years ago. 83k to 4k in just over a year. Just saying - brand loyalty and all that. Where did I mention the Challenge Cup?

Good for them...it is still a fail of Epic proportions!

Saracens marketing a game as a world record attempt (which they got BTW) v Saracens in a 2nd tier cup competition....way to compare c020.gif

I fail to see how Saracens knowing how to fill Wembley is a bad thing? They average about 40k for their annual Wembley game but in 1 year they pushed for a big crowd and got it.......how in any world is that a bad thing?

It would seem the RLWC organisers like the way Sarries do business......they've hired the same guy for the Big Hit....Australia will go from 5,762 to 70,000......the guy's a friggin genius icon_lol.gif icon_lol.gif icon_lol.gif icon_lol.gif icon_lol.gif ...that's some Brand Loyalty icon_cool.gif

8,326 is their Aviva average after 4 home games.....not brilliant, but 61,428 is their average in the Heineken Cup icon_lol.gif ...I suspect they won't get as many for their next home H-cup match....they're back at Copthall

The average crowd for SL only ties in the Challenge Cup in 2013 was 12,162. So the LV doesn't come out on top. Not when you compare like for like.

RU gets sht crowds sometimes, RL gets sht crowds sometimes. Wow earth shattering news!

This RLWC has exceeded expectations at a time when the game was struggling to get crowds in SL, we should all rejoice in that and congratulate whoever was responsible, including the fans who have bought tickets and turned up.

Gutters tell us again how your pre tournament running down of the game and fear mongering on announcements has been proved to be wrong, we never sick of hearing it lol.

By the end of this world cup I will have been to 13/28 games and I must admit this tournament has re-ignited my love for the sport.
As a Wigan fan, even though last year was a season dreams are made of, I found myself picking and choosing some games, even though I am a season ticket holder.
It's great to see 70k+ at a semi final, a sell out for the final, sell outs for the England games, 14k+ on a blustery night in St. Helens for Aus v Fiji, 10k+ at Leigh & Halifax for Tonga v Cook Islands & Tonga v Italy respectively. Sell outs in France. What a tournament, I'm now seriously considering a trip to Aus in 2017 for the next world cup!

Is it just me or do other people find it difficult to have a sensible conversation with somebody who litters their posts with these stupid little smiley faces? Making a good and valid point would be more impactful if you didn’t congratulate yourself by adding the ‘I’m patting you on the head’ gesture

Are you a union man/boy? That would explain a lot. How's your dividing everything by 2 going?
