Quote: Clearwing "Surely the best reflection of what Sky feels various teams have to offer will be reflected in how often each features.'"
This isn't true at all because SKY have to provide the fans subscribing to watch their clubs play, with games involving their clubs. Way back when Huddersfield were serial losers, Huddersfield fans still paid their subs and were provided with Huddersfield games. Fartown offered nothing much but were featured as their fans were paying. Of course the successful clubs are on more because they won through to the play offs, and they probably provide higher numbers of subscribers.
Toronto Wolfpack and Les Catalans offer SKY nothing as their fans don't subscribe, but SKY can hardly demand they won't show these clubs. Mr. McManus dealt with this saying that SKY concede a couple of expansion clubs because they do not want to stand in the way of the game expanding it's commercial income and quality player base. That's how it is.
https://www.saintsrlfc.com/club/whos-who/ if you want to check with McManus. Question for you - how many players have TWP developed and how much TV money are they attracting in North America?

I love you man, but your drifting so far outside the box the Wolves will get you.....

And again.
You repeatedly have said that Sky do not want overseas clubs.
Caught you out. Again.

Come on man, Sky couldn't give a toss about the game, other than they need some screen filler that is worth their while, end of.
The rest is just posturing (from both sides) to help them achieve what they want from their "bid".
Whether McManus is slanting some of his words towards "blaming" Sky for any UK/Overseas split, is a different matter altogether and FWIW, he's absolutely right about some of the overseas clubs not being anything like self sufficient (in terms of player development etc), for many, many years to come, if ever and I would suggest that it is their reliance on other clubs / nations to provide the players for the expansionists dream that makes him suggest that we need nine UK clubs in SL and little to do with Sky.
I also agree with the likely effects of "relegating" a further proportion of UK clubs and the huge detrimental effect that this would have on our domestic game.
As for converting significant numbers of grid iron players, I think this was all just a publicity stunt. Although, if they were prepared to commit significant resource and time, MAYBE it could be done.

I think your just too clever for me.
I said SKY don't want overseas clubs but they concede that they can't stifle "expansion" so they set a limit of three. As it stands sadly you could not really remove TWP and Catalans and put Bradford and Widnes back in because they lack the rich owners needed. Now Semore Kurdi is a rich owner, and Nigel Wood and Perez - you know the pair that started this american nonsense - are working hard on resurrecting Bradford Bulls Instead .
Now I dunno if this is just my wishful thinking but I would not be surprised if 2022 Bradford and Newcastle will enter SL and replace TWP and Catalans because overseas expansion isn't working....Howay the lads....
Whadyathink?

£200M says SKY give a toss for me. We may be filler but they have kept us alive since 1996.
Pleased you can see that relegating English clubs and promoting overseas clubs kills the game here.
Yes I agree grid iron conversions was a Perez publicity stunt that Nigel Wood had to swallow. Now ironically and tellingly Wood is teamed up with Perez at Bradford how about Wakey/Bradford games 2022 onwards?
See you there.....

What puzzles me about sky is that they are investing this money but unless you are a subscriber to sky sports channels Rugby League is probably an alien sport to most people. If sky advertised the sport & extolled its virtues more widely on its full spectrum of channels then RL would probably be more attractive to the general public & advertisers in general.

I just don't know mate, I only have a one man business. I don't know anything about SKY airtime and it's value. Do they make more showing their own advertisment for Superleague or do they make more selling that TV slot to a commercial customer? I can't think Rugby league is alien, in my experience anyone who likes Rugby per se knows the other code exists even in Cornwall and vice versa. Anyone who may want to tune in to English RL probably already does.
Over in Canada TWP have to let people into Lamport on free tickets, or alternatively put both the Rugby game and the Beer Festival onto one paying ticket. It was interesting when people started to look closely at the terraces at Lamport during games that announced 6,000 attendances. The crowd looked awful thin for 6,000, but this was excused because according to TWP fans the rest of the crowd were in the beer tents.
When I went to Headingley for the double header, I went into the south stand beer and food hall at half time and it was packed (or should I say Wolfpacked ) As soon as the TWP and Leeds players emerged it completely emptied. It appears when TWP are at home the people in the beer tents don't bother when the games on. Still people will still shout about 9,000 crowds. Steph always puts this at the bottom of her posts. "9,000" fans.
She forgets to put 4,500 in the beer tent and 4,500 in for free!!

Not the beer tent argument again, really scraping the bottom of the barrel now looking for negatives. But I'll counter it nonetheless.
Why would people pay for a ticket to a footy game just to drink beer? They could go to the local pub instead and save themselves purchasing a footy ticket. Sounds like good marketing and in the long run, they're attending a rugby league game, that's a positive, isn't it? Surely you have had a beer at the footy before?
Maybe clubs with embarrassing attendances like Salford, Wakey, Leigh and co should give it a go?

Thanks for your intervention. My bad, I did notice Mr. Capdouze had not posted for weeks, and took the "newcomer" at his word. but yes, his reply to me and his reply to you is unmistakable. Anyway attendances at the games at Salford and Wigan have dispelled the myth about how attractive and glamorous TWP are, but I do think the performance of their players at Wigan was highly commendable - albeit they are highly paid and may well have been reminded of this by McDermott on the orders of Argylle.
But as is the way of these forums nobody will admit they were wrong, and the current idea to excuse their struggles is that they are "finding their feet" and are currently disadvantaged by playing "away" every week
