Its 7700 actually so you might want to recalculate

Plus 1000 people turned up to an international at Wakefield’s stadium in 2016. No that’s not a typo it was 1000. No wonder the council won’t build them a stadium, what’s the point? No one cares about rugby in that city, the money could be put to better use

Quote: Shifty Cat "Just to add, WMDC certainly doesn't think about their sporting facilities around the whole district, that's why we rank last in the whole Country in that area and I'm not talking about WMDC building a RL stadium here, it's the complete lack of Council owned sports facilities like MUGA pitches and swimming pools etc that people can use for a number of sports. Off the top of my head, they really only own, the Athletics track at Thornes Park and Sun Lane baths, many swimming pools out of the City Centre have been shut down. That's probably also why Wakefield has one of the worst child obesity problems in the Country as well. WMDC need to give the kids and let's be honest adults too, a good reason to get out of their bedrooms/ living rooms and a chance to play sport with their mates or by themselves, that doesn't involve traveling miles to get to.'"

WMDC knocked our sports centre down, told us we should all use the brand new one 5 miles away in a different town and hats not been built yet not got planning yet and unlikely to be built for at least 5 years if at all.

The whole Cas / Wakey new stadia fiasco reminds me of that Roller coaster ride in Blackpool (Grand National)

First it was Cas with Glasshoughton Mk I, then Wakey come up on the rails with the Newmarket debacle, as that begins to unravel back come Cas with Glasshoughton Mk II.

Now it seems the storm clouds are brewing over WF10 & all of a sudden Wakefield are back in the race!

Two famous old clubs on the rickety wooden ride, racing to the bottom.

To the bottom of what?
Both in top 5 of Super League
Both have good youth development
Both are financially steady

If you only want a stadium you might as well put Leigh Widnes Featherstone in the top flight. Of course the rugby won't be as good but that's not what we are here for is it.......... Oh wait...... Doh.

How much is Cas and Wakey’s ability to compete recently has to do with SL’s stagnation in the last decade especially with the salary cap?

To the bottom of the grubby barrel, begging bowls in hand, promised the earth, yet receiving endless false dawns. Both guided by an incompetent council, whilst unscrupulous developers run rings round their grandiose plans.

I personally don't give two hoots about what the facilities are like, but I'm a dinosaur brought up on winter rugby & the likes, however if you cannot see the benefits of having a modern facility, just keep rocking up at B.V. for whatever time it has left.

I'm sure Poptart can speak for himself but I've never seen him say there are no benefits to having a modern stadium and facilities - in fact, the exact opposite. As a Trinity fan yourself you know what most of us think and have said about how much difference a new facility would make for us as a team/business and supporters over the years and years. it's just not the be all and end all is it to RL and the game as a whole.

Of course I see the benefit.
But that benefit is to Wakefield Trinity's income.
It bugs me when other clubs have a go when it makes no difference to them and imply we are so terrible when actually in rugby terns we are consistently better than most on the field.

Well if the salary cap had risen over the last 15 years more in line with what it should’ve done it would be closer to £3m rather than £2m. Hardly a stretch to see how those who struggle to reach the cap as it is now would’ve suffered had it done so.

We are seeing small increases coming up year upon year now of the salary cap along with the marquee rule, it will get harder for those who can’t hang with those changes financially to keep up.

or bless, finished in top 8 two years in a row and think you have dynasty and are a top team. see where you are in two years time, will you then be spouting about what matters on the field when your back in bottom 4, then you will be spouting about how your new stadium will save the game.

So because Wakey and Cas choose to live within their means it's their fault that the salary cap hasn't been aloud to spiral out of control, that's despite the best efforts of certain clubs to try and cheat it, your becoming increasingly boring in your constant Wakey bashing, I think I'd sooner listen to you telling us about the 8 GF you've won, far more interesting icon_rolleyes.gif
