| Great news that they have managed to secure a first minor sponsor/partner for a tournament that starts in 275 days, but they are starting to run out of time....still no major naming sponsor, Broadcast partners and very little news on sales other than the first "we've sold most of the final and semi-final" release......maybe they were to busy closing the foxy bingo deal
500,000 tickets were available for RLWC 2013......there are still 440,000 + on the block.....hardly something that is going to make a sponsor sit up and take notice.....unless you are contra-dealing accommodation for the teams in return for sponsorship status

I agree it's disappointing not having anything, but I would much rather them wait, than accept a sub standard offer like the Stobart deal last year...

Wait how long?
July they agreed with the wagonman than they would rip up the deal.....6 months later and they have crumbs from the sponsorship table from Foxy Bingo and Tetley with nobody obviously prepared to step up and offer the same level of cash and commitment that Engage showed (1.2 million a year over 7 years).
you have to wonder if the RFL has the right calibre of people in key roles, especially when other sports manage to secure good deals......

....no major sponsor to date 10 months in the Job......especially after his opening statements!

“My experience with the ITF and North One Sport has equipped me to deliver a whole-sport solution to the market and maximise sponsorship and revenue streams in a sport I have admired for some considerable time.
“I have first hand experience of building successful platforms by weaving together the elements of television, new media, licensing and sponsorship to achieve commercial objectives.
“With so much positive news, this is a great time to join the RFL and I am very much looking forward to working with all our brands to understand how to maximise all the opportunities that exist for growth.”'"
The other guy I wonder about is Mr Lowry...who apparently single handedly made Man City the brand they are today...he's 11 months in the job and has added not a single thing of note...in fact, he presided over embarrassing attendances in the Play-offs and the internationals......

I have seen pub teams and local leagues run better.....but I have no doubt the defenders of the RFL will see it diferently

Yes, a bit like they accepted Championship TV coverage midweek on Premier for nothing,

| Makes you think what the RFL actually have been doing. They made a statement on the 30th July that they have interesting party,s for the main sponsor 2013. Mercer confirming that ongoing discussions were progressing.
7 months on and no sponsor, not that it matters as the RFL have scheduled the start of super league to coincide with the media saturated 6 nations rugby union.
I,m getting very suspicious of this terminology of official "partner", is there any monies involved as no financial gain has been confirmed to date.

| Just read on SS that the Tetley deal is worth seven figures over two years. Seems a pretty good deal to me although not sure what the Carnegie deal was like.
On the WC, i actually think the RFL will pull it off. The hotel deal I'm very pleased with and hopefully that is the type of sponsor the critics want, that competition seems to be run professionally. I'm pretty certain that will financially be more successful than the 08 WC.
SL however, well it's not really good enough that we could start the new season (In WC year) without a sponsor. Granted the RFL seem to have learned from their mistakes last year and aren't going to be under selling the product (Which they have done for a number of years) I really think we need to be tougher negotiating sponsorship deals, so although i am glad the RFL seem to be doing this, they shouldn't have got themselves into this position. They should have been looking for the right deal the second the Stobart deal ended.

They should be ( or have somebody ) constantly looking for potential new sponsorship ' partners ' all the time

| Just when you think the RFL are doing well with the Tetley's sponsorship of the Challenge Cup and the Marriott sponsorship of the World Cup, they tell us that we haven't got a sponsor for our main competition that starts in 9 days. Normal service resumed I think they call it.

| The RFL are completely useless. Nigel Wood is obviously on his dinner break most of the day, so that explains it I guess.
