| Quote: Fordy "
My feeling is that given a lack of a real business plan from the consortium, the RFL are worried that they may allow a new company to take over the Bulls, buy back the lease and then let them fail so that they can have access to the land. This is the reason the RFL gave for buying the lease in the first place.
I have no evidence for this it is just an opinion but I can see why that scenario would worry the RFL.'"
The land is a real minefield - legally anyway (although the other wouldn't surprise me).
The Odsal settlement means the Bulls can't move from Odsal until 2019 at the earliest without paying penalties. If they no longer exist...
The council are the actual owners of the land and the land cannot be used for anything other than rugby until 2019 as well (without buying out the council)
There's also a Sport England restriction on Odsal site meaning it can't be developed for anything other than rugby until 2020. The council guy at Monday's meeting told us this.
He didn't mention penalties but I would imagine that any organisation which gets funding from Sport England would want to be very careful about how they pass on the lease...
Seems to tie in with 2019 date we're committed to under the Odsal settlement.
All consortiums are aware of this restriction with regards to development.
Why did the RFL think getting involved in this was a good idea last year?
In the short term it must have seemed a good idea but???

| The only possible replacement club as I see it would be Halifax, although they could have big problems with such short notice. As far as a newco in CC1 is concerned, don't forget that the RFL would need a cash bond up front, which nearly scuppered North Wales Crusaders bid. I THINK it's about £50k, but if someone out there knows differently please post the correct figure.

| So these likely lads want to buy a club without showing their funding, providing names of shareholders and directors or any business plan whatsoever?
How utterly ridiculous. I cant see the Bulls being here for much longer, it is a shame but thats life.

| Interesting of Bulls do go under if they bring someone up for next year or have bye rounds.
I still can't see the RFL letting Bradford disappear.

Surely that's just sentimentality.
Why does it fall to the RFL to "save" the Bulls, or any club?
Are the FA pulling out the stops to save Portsmouth?
Did the SFA protect Rangers?
No.

Are either of those organisations in any way connected to the RFL?
No.
We do things our way.

We do some things badly, we do some things well.
Whether or not it is decided to bail out the Bulls we will make that decision regardless of other sports, they are in a completely different position to us.

Indeed. The FA and SFA are high profile, cash rich NGBs. They certainly have the wherewithall to intervene, if they deemed necessary. They haven't.
Yet you choose a "chaos theory" attitude to support a club who have crippled themselves (and have been supported in a way no other club has been aided).
Where does this end? Who is next? How exposed are the RFL to bailing out every other club that lives beyond its means to be competitive?
Paying the wages of a bankrupt club, who are then able to chase a play-off position is perverse!

| If it wasn't for sentimentality we wouldn't have a game.
Martyn Sadler has tweeted that there will be big news today, and rather cryptically that Bulls "undoubtedly" have a future. MOTWYW.

That statement itself is just sentiment...and it's stupid.
There are many reasons why we have our game - sentimentality can in some way be blamed for the STATE of the game!

| B.llocks. If people had no more sentiment for their RL club than they do for their supermarket, we'd be dead in a year.

| Not sure you know what sentiment is.
Are you meaning dedication, love, loyalty, fanaticism???
They don't pay the bills either!
