No, just as there is no evidence that having Quins in SL boosts Sky viewing figures in the South or that without Quins jnr RL in London wouldn;t be growing as much. There are assumptions and guesses based on the behaviour of the RFL/SL chairmen at various times that London looked like falling over.

It just hasn't worked.
The Rugby League are centred around the M62, and Rugby Union are centred around the M4. Simple.

FWIW it went last night on a freebie, and bumped in to quite a few who also seemed to be new to the sport. Thankfully most seemed to stay to the end which should have left them with a better impression than they got from the first 60 minutes.

Funnily enough I drove down the M4 yesterday and didn’t see any exits signposted for Leicester, Watford, Northampton, Exeter, Sale, Newcastle or Leeds?
And I’ve just posted on the Super League show thread that the BBC will only show the programme in the North bar a 3.15am repeat... I wonder if there is any connection to your perceptions above? |
