what crowd did that get?
and the Bledisloe cup was played in hong kong recently and it was a sell out.
why is it other sports can do the exact same thing but the idea that RL will do it sends people scurrying away in fear.

I actually don't think your idea is that bad, but then I also don't think it will help promote/expand the game of Rugby League in England as much as you think.
But as I said taking the origin game on the road in Aus is a fantastic idea and one they should look at in more states. |

| You have to admire the way 2 ockers have stretched a half-formed thought into 16 pages of, ahem, "debate".
What's laughable is you cited examples of football and Rugby Union games being played in this country not involving an England side. As much as it pains you to hear this, both those sports have huge followings in the south of England.
On the other hand, if that game of Union had been played in, say for example, Manchester, Leeds or Hull, they wouldn't have got a great deal of interest.
You see what i'm saying here? I'll spell it out a bit clearer[sizeTHE 2 RUGBY CODES IN THIS COUNTRY ARE VERY MUCH REGIONALISED, THEREFORE A GAME OF RL IN LONDON BETWEEN 2 AUSTRALIAN SIDES WOULD NOT GENERATE THE DESIRED LEVEL OF INTEREST!!!![/size

In 1935 The Dragon Slayers as they were known defeated Canterbury bulldogs 91-6, which is still the biggest win in the Club's History. In 1907, the St George district had a club in the Sydney rugby union competition. Interestingly, the team's area was referred to as the 'Illawarra suburbs'. A resolution to form a St George rugby league club was made at a local meeting held in early 1908, but the movement faltered and collapsed. St George, wearing the district colours of red and white, played in the NSWRL's Third Grade competition in 1910, and formed a President's Cup team in 1911. References were found at the time to district teams being called 'The Saints'.the perfect 11

Now if Russell Crowe wants to come over and promote international RL or WCC then fine, it would certainly help to rasie the profile. State of Origin would not. This is not fear of Origin - why would anyone fear it? As for War of the Roses, there is no passion for this and it would only serve to highlight the regional appeal of the game.

yes i have actually
went to the CC final 2 years back st helens vs catalans
then went and watched around 10 games up north including NL1, NL2 and some SL games including the hull derby, wigan / saints at the JJB and bradford / leeds at odsal. |
