good job manchester doesn't have a team because if they did you lot wouldn't even exist.'"
You can assume what you like, I really could not care less.
The RFL are not going to actually say that are they?
Also I said they didn't want you, not that you were not allowed, but lets not let facts get in the way of a good tale eh?
I think you will find Manchester and Salford have had lots of teams over the years.
Where are they now?

Quote: The Clan "I'd love to see a strong SL club in Cumbria and we should have poured recourses into that county in order to achieve this.
On the population question The Wakefield District has a population of around 350,000 but if you remove Castleford, Featherstone, Normanton, Altofts, Knottingley, Ackworth, Airdale, Fryston, Ryhill, Hemsworth you are left with a population of around 135,000 which is much larger (almost double) that of Barrow at 72,000'"
Wakefield population - 76,886 .......... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wakefield
My point was more that we have a captive audience, unlike all Yorkshire clubs, who are situated in an over-saturated RL area.
Widnes population - 57,663 .......... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Widnes
Again, that area has 2 bigger clubs on the doorstep in Warrington and Saints. Wigan aint that far away either.

Yet we still got bigger crowds in SL then Wakey and higher than Barrow (& anyone else) in Championship now, so regardless of area size facts speak up louder.
Wire a bigger club? Naaaaaa!

Please don't try and tell me about Wakefield,
I've excluded all the areas that wouldnt count as central Wakefield and have only counted in those areas that are within the traditional boundaries of Wakefield District and not Borough.
135,000
Wiki isn't a good point of ref to cite either.

And let's not forget that you've already enjoyed the attendance boost that a new stadium brings.
Wakefield averaged nearly 6,500 last year and that was on the back of one of the worst season in terms of performances in many fans living memory.
A new stadium coupled with new investors/owners may well see a Trinity resurgence and potentially 10,000 crowds.

You would concede though that a) it is clear that they have made progress and b) you thought it was never going to happen.

No , it has been quite obvious that they have been shifting dirt for several months now
I have never suggested it wasn't going to happen , just that it wasn't going to happen when they said it was going to happen , and also what they said was going to happen has in fact changed from what was originally going to happen

Well, you're certainly right about that. Salford originally had grand plans for a stadium, casino, hotel which was apparently going to make them 'the richest club in Superleague' and, if I recall rightly 'a million pounds a season before a turnstyle clicks' (which was a Tarryism I think). They've since adjusted their expectations to something much more sensible. Steady growth is where it's at.
However, it should always be remembered that it was a pretty ambitious project (just be location for a start) and they've done tremendously well to get it sorted finally. Crowds of 10,000 are enough to fund a decent SL side. You've got to expect that their new facility will get them to that pretty easily. Without question, it will strengthen the competition enormously and you have to also expect them to be secured in SL for many years to come.
