| Quote: prop joe "Yes but Brent Webb wasn't "nailed on" for Lance Todd was he and we all know he's in decline. I'd rather he left Leeds this season than play on but we're stuck with him for a while longer unfortunately.
Sam Tomkins started well but he bottled it big time. I can't remember ever seeing him pass the ball before on kick returns but last Saturday I can't remember him even returning a kick after the first 20 mins, preferring to give it to someone else every time.
I bet the Aussies are sh**ting it on that "big game" performance.'"
Sam always passes to his wingers unless he sees a gap or if their not near him - why would he run it back in when it works better that the wingers take the hit, and he takes advantage of the oppositions markers being e.

| Quote: PopTart "So we have a player who is quite obviously the most talented and exciting player to come out of Super League for quite a while and we have 16 pages of criticism, putting him down for any perceived failing.
Great work guys, get a grip.
Is there anyone on this board who wouldn't be happy if their side signed him tomorrow? No, didn't think so.
And while I'm on one, why do so many fans feel they have a right to abuse players and referrees at games or on this board, but one of them shares their feelings back and they should be hung. What was he meant to do after the booing and chanting he'd received from Leeds fans already.
To be honest, I thought he expressed himself quite eloquently!'"
He was meant to be a professional and follow the policies of the game (ie the RESPECT policy). It's what he gets paid for. Referees receive far more abuse from both sets of fans. How many of them stick two fingers up to the crowd? None. But apparently you think they should?
Some of the cotton-wool types need to get it into their thick and over-sensitive heads that he isn't booed because he is good, and no-one has denied that he is. If it was, then why don't people boo Roby, who is my personal choice for MoS? Maybe because he is a professional.

| Suggesting Sam Tomkins is a dirty player and furthermore the only dirty player is laughable. On that basis he must be so hated by opposition fans simply because he doesn't play for them.

Has anyone actually suggested this?

| Given the abuse he suffered at the international I can't blame him for doing it. He won't do it again and it will certainly heighten the fever when he next goes to Leeds. Can't wait for that lol.

You don't blame him for it? He deserves the abuse he gets because of his behaviour. The abuse he gets isn't any worse than other players get. The likes of Graham will be shouted at at every ground in SL. Yet they act with class and aren't drawn into such childish nonsense as sticking two fingers up.

Graham doesn't act with class, behave yourself. Him and Sam are both guilty of far too many traits associated with football.
Graham's a disgrace to the game the way he screams at the officials.

And then in the real world...
It's pure jealousy and nothing more. As a Wakey fan my expectations are fairly low so I find it fairly easy to accept that the really great players are at other clubs. Teams like Hull and Leeds with their pretensions of greatness find it much harder to accept they are second best. Hence the hissy fit when Wigan have a truly gifted player who makes a minor error of judgement.
Your argument is so flawed it's basically ridiculous. If you boo a player for the reasons you give why isn't Ryan Bailey or Cockayne to name but two bood off the park every game. Come off it, people abuse him because he makes their star players look like dobbins.
As for Roby being ahead of Tomkins as MOS - absolutely hilarious.

Why? Top metre maker and second in tackling? He has been outstanding this season. Tomkins hits a run of form and scores a few tries on Sky and everyone has a fit.

Great, very impressive stats. Also a Saints player not the you are in any way biased.
So that's all MOS is about, stats.
Not about a young player bursting on the scene scoring wonder tries or creating them for others etc etc.
Hell give it to Roby then, who else could it be

Roby is a provebial machine who embodies the meaning of the words MAN OF STEEL.
Watch him acheive those stats. Not only is he a tireless worker, but he's a constant danger with the ball. Not only does he make tackles but he makes them hard. He's even chipped in with a few 40-20 kicks to display his all round game. He does all this playing with broken hands, broken noses, cracked cheeks without complaint.
Take him out of the Saints team and they would crash in a meteoric fashion, much more than if you took Sam out of the Wigan team.
To roll your eyes at the suggestion he's up for man of steel is ridiculous.
