| He's done very well this season and turned us around, and importantly, as he's said himself changed the way people think about the club (on the whole)......we've played some great stuff at times and finished the season really well...
Any sensible rugby fan knows we gave Leeds a very good game last night and although the scoreline favoured Leeds by 22 points it was a lot closer than that.....had Washbrook made the play with 9 minutes to go we were 4 points behind with the momentum.....the gap in the scoreline only grew because we were having to chance our arm in desperation and Leeds capitalised on that....as a true champion side would.....
Agar's true test of course will come next season.....there was no pressure really this season as every man and his dog had us down to struggle.....with the way we've finished anything outside a top 8 finish will be looked on as a failure and the pressure will grow......even a poor start and the pressure could be on as expectation will be much higher......hope he does well though becasue he clearly knows the game very well and always comes across well in his interviews....

| I think Andrew Glover deserves more credit, he has completely transformed the club. Under his owenerhsip, Wakey can really build something. Also think the fans deserve some credit as it's great to see Wakey getting good attendances.
On Agar he's done OK. You have to look at it realistically, Widnes were the new boys and were going to have a season finding their feet, London have had a terrible season and so have Cas ( think both will bounce back next year), i think Salford and KR threw away their season, while Bradfords problems are well documented. He has done very well still to get them in the play-offs as he threw a team together at very short notice.
I think his acid test will be next year, I expect Cas & London to bounce back and be play-off contenders next year, KR & Salford i'm unsure, while Widnes still need a few signings to challenge IMO Bradford have lost some players but i expect us to finish between 7 - 10.

Can't argue with that really, though I think Cas may struggle again.

| I think it because of how Cas have performed this year, the exodus of players taking place now, the lack of quality being recruited and the improving form of similar teams, such as London and Widnes. I have made an evidence-based conclusion.
You, however...

| Lack of quality being recruited? We have signed an England international an ex-new Zealand international, a Challenge cup winner who has the potential to be great darn lane, we have Gilmour who is one of the most experienced player in the Super League. A winger who was showing incredible promise before an injury and Hauraki who showed what he can do when he got played every week at Crusaders.

| Agar has thrown a group of players together a matter of months before the season began, he had a limited budget compared to many teams in the league. To make the playoffs is a great achievement and deserves all the praise he gets, I know there are a lot of hull fans who are pleased for agar that he is doing so well at Wakefield.

| First of all, you can do nothing other than agree with the op, Well done Richard Agar !
Has he done well at Wakefield ?, yes. To assemble a squad from virtually nothing, and then to take the club from a 13th place finish to 8th, without doubt makes Wakefield the most improved team in the comp.
It may prove to be a "lucky" first season in charge and there is no doubt that there will be somewhat more pressure on his shoulders next season as Wakefield will be expected to finish in the 8, but for season 1, he has done great job.
Argueably, he has acheived the maximum that can have been asked of him, so for all the Bulls fans that think their team should not have had a points deduction and the FC fans that say Gentle has done a better job at Hull, be honest with yourselves. This guy HAS done well

| I have to confess I was not happy with his appointment and come mid season hand on heart couldn't wait to hopefully see the back of him. I don't know what happened mid season but it was truelly unbelievable the turn around in fortunes. He has to take huge credit for this.
Big pat on the back to all concerned, I got it badly wrong - fingers crossed for some quality signings and another push at the 8 next season.

| Agar has done well but crucially at Hull he made inept decisions, was a yes man and couldn't come up with the tactical nous that we needed to progress nor even motivate the players it seemed.
You(wakey) had a 7 game winning streak which was excellent, however we had an opening season 5 game winning streak in 2009 beating Wigan, Catalans, Hudds, Bradford & Crusdaers, not a mean feat at all. It all went tits up as we lost 6 on the trot to Cas, London, Salford, Rovers, St.Helens & Wakefield. We went on to win only a further 5 matches the whole season including the CC & a play off game against the dobbins at home. I really hope that doesn't happen to you next season but I fear this season end was a flash in the pan and Wakey won't reach the play offs next year. (& no I aint gonna do a Schoey if they do..lol)

| I was very much against Agar during his tenure at the KC, as a person he is a nice bloke but as a coach he was out of his depth. I was however very interested to see how he would get on at Wakefield this season with no interference from the board etc.
The season started poorly for him and the Wildcats but you have to give him and the team credit for turning it around in the latter part of the season. He had the benefit of having no pressure on him this season as the expectation levels are lower at Wakefield (not a dig a Wakey) he also has the benefit of having a few more years coaching experience under his belt. The acid test of course will be how they kick on from here.
Good luck to him as we really do need some good British coaches coming through.

| Quote: Roofaldo "I would just point out that without Bradford's financial meltdown, Wakefield wouldn't have made the play-offs.'"
Can't be bothered writing this out myself so Ive shamelessly pinched it from another forum.
Quote: Roofaldo "
Bulls fans need to recognise that every point you won was won with a team you couldn't afford. Forget the 6 point deduction your old BoD assembled a squad they didn't have the money to pay for and in doing so they breached the integrity of the league and undermined the game.
That group of players should never have taken the field together in the first place. '"
Quote: Roofaldo "
You have a valid point but the Wakey players presumably didn't take to the field hoping another side would slip up financially? Its not like the Bulls were packed with superstars is it? If Wakey were a genuine top side they should have beaten the Bulls in both the games.
'"
Quote: Roofaldo "
So had Wakefield gone out and signed 3 or 4 more quality players they couldn't afford and, with those players, done the double over Bradford would that be right?
Because that's what the Bulls did in fact they did more than just take points from Wakefield with their players they won other close games that without the extra players they perhaps wouldn't have.
It's impossible to say with certainty how many games the Bulls would have won with a team they'd assembled on an affordable budget but what is a fact is that they won every single competition point this year with a team they couldn't afford and one which other people eventually paid the wages for.'"
I think Richard Agar has done a superb job and his achievements surpass those of Gentle, Wayne and Potter making him the best candidate for SL coach of the year
