No. I've never said they were lying, nor have I condoned any of the tackles.
You're insinuating that Wigan, through their coach or players are deliberately attempting to severely injure other players.
That's the word I take issue with.

It's a known technique that came from Melbourne. It's called the cannonball tackle and caused a lot of controversy when a 16 year old lost his career to it. The links to the Storm are there.
I'm sure when they are coaching it they talk about dominating the ruck and the intention may well be to put the player on their back. But it is such a dangerous technique that it could easily end a player's career. Which is why Potter said
and Tony Smith said
All season there have been rumours posted about how Wigan coaches have been heard instructing players to stop holding back and start 'snapping the pole'. It's undeniable what those sorts of techniques will result in if they keep doing it.

But that's not what you were constantly alluding to.
It's a highly contentious issue, and not one that I'll defend because the rules are (quite rightly) there to prevent it because of the dangers it can cause, but I refuse to accept that Maguire, Lima or anyone else in any team is deliberately aiming to cause a serious injury to a fellow professional.

| Quote: Guerrier "You see Saddo, just because you like to repeat yourself in trying to convince us all it was a pre-meditated and deliberate attempt to maim/cripple/kill, doesn't make it true.'"
it may not have been pre-meditated, it may not have been an attempt to main/cripple/kill but it was deliberate, it lacked class, and it was a cowardly act from a player who has form for doing it. Jeff Lima has epitomized the Mike Maguire way and im glad to see the back of it.
Hopefully Wigan will focus on this great fluid attack the apparently have and can let the ankle twisting, knee attacking, penalty milking, cowardly lion impression they have shown in the past couple of years go.

| Its barely begun, Wane will only try and continue to build on the great work by Maguire at Wigan.
Wigan have a few problems for next season, poor tacking technique is certainly not on the agenda thats for sure.

| wigan are prob the best organised team i have seen for years. everyone knows there place and job and they have been a bloody good side. there is no doubt lima, who i really rate as a go forward prop, does have a questionable 'tackling' technique and i'm not sure how he has escaped lengthy bans.
also with hoffman and coley gone players will be be able to keep there heads on there shoulders again.
but really the fault lies with the spineless RFL. if they clamped down and hammered players, from all teams not just wigan, then deliberate foul play would stop almost overnight

| Quote: warrior24 "A young up and coming coach in Australia given the opportunity to cut his teeth in the UK with the worlds biggest club. Makes no signings takes them to league leaders and a grand final win in his first year. Then comes a narrow loss to St George in the world club challenge, then he guides them to a CC final win (best team in the comp by far). Then he coaches a team to second spot (only 4 losses in weekly rounds) for them to lose narrowly in the semi final. He's now heading back to Oz to coach probably the most historic team in the NRL.
He's never moaned about our game, player or team, and comes across very proffesional in his approach to the game.
British RL fans are fickle.'"
The worlds biggest club that managed the smallest gate off the playoffs (6790), massive club..... no really.

Who are you Mr Dumb or Mr Dumber..........................We've played your lot 6 times this season and I've seen enough of your lot executing tackles to injure. Speaking to some of the parents at St Judes last weekend even they are concerned about the technique and don,t want it creeping into the young amateur game.
Its a pity Lima isn't going back to Oz with Hoffman and McGuire before he cripples someone out of the game, at least Coley has retired before he does any more head damage....................Why are Wigoons so DUMB and DUMBER.

| I didn't like him purely because he was a smaller, slitty mouthed version of Arsene wenger. Never saw anything wrong with any of his players, was the only man on the planet that saw nothing wrong with Hocks gouging or other incidents. He wasn't even a good coach, the last month has proved that. Without the RFL and referees on his side he relinquinshed the Champions title without so much as a whimper. When public opinion forced the referees to enforce the rules Wigan looked a very average team. Wigan are a one man outfit and when the aussies smash him to pieces this winter they won't even be that.

You must be so pi--ed off that you don't have the chance to re-write history this Saturday, lest you have forgotten, Leeds have never beaten Wigan in a final of any description.
