Sadly, Codarmysaint is correct, at amateur level anyway.

why should RL fans miss out on his skills?
why should RL in nz not get a boost from someone who appears to be passionate about it'"
I think you missed my main point which is that the NRL needs to be careful to ensure that grubs like Nasser and Mundine don't get another opportunity to promote their seedy circus through SBW.
I agree that harbouring grudges is rarely profitable and if SBW is genuinely remorseful then he should get a sympathetic hearing. He is a talented and exciting player to watch and it is sad to see his skills wasted in the garbage that is yawnion.
But I am also aware that
He broke a contract.
He had a 4 year injury plagued RL career - hardly a massive legacy. Indeed after he left the Bulldogs improved dramatically and the NRL has had its best viewing figures. The NRL owe him nothing.
I'd welcome him back if it can be done in a way that is positive for RL - but if that can't be guaranteed why bother?

| because it will give RL a lot of positive publicity.
i think you forget SBW already paid the dogs $750,000 of his own money to get out of his contract
plus the dogs are asking for a further $2 million in compensation for whoever signs him
so i think thats enough to cover walking out on his contract

| Would anyone want to risk him?..Seem to remember when he was in his pomp he was an awesome player but far too injury prone....Dodgy knees IIRC.....Can*t remember how many games he played in union but think he missed a few in the NRL due to injury as well.

Indeed, just ask Charlton Heston... I will never forget his famous quote in response to a particularly vicious 'chicken wing' tackle
"Take your stinking paws off me, you damn dirty ape!"

Head down up is pure union fella!
The problem League players have when they cross to union is that not many of their new team mates are on the same wavelength or have the quality to read what they're doing with the football.

it's nothing to do with the quality to read what they are doing, rl run different
lines to ru as there are less players. Rl guys turn to ru and run rl lines which union guys have no concept of as they don't use them hence the issues cross
coders run into(no pun intended).
As has been said they are different games with different rules and different skills/techniques it just happens they are similar enough for exceptional athletes to switch from one to another.

except union gets RL coaches in all the time
people with zero experience at union and they still do well
RL uses creative angles to break down rigid defences.
to break down the defence in union they kick the ball out on the full

Crap.
8 Guinness Premiership clubs and every Home Nations Union side has a rugby league coach.
How many times do I have to say it?
Mongs...
They can't get enough of our intellectual property...the coaches stat confirms it.
I doubt anyone can name 3 union coaches involved with rugby league teams. World-wide.
Give it a go trolls. Come on, you know you can't...
Game over.

| i remember chris andeson got a job coaching some union team in wales
he said he had to get a RU rule book first to learn the rules
now that we have taught them how to tackle their game is an even worse attacking spectacle
those RL coaches are trojan horses in union
