He has made BBC RL what it is for many years, and it will be a sad day when he does hang up his mic permanently.

Woodsy is a good bloke and is the natural man to take over. Just need a new right hand man to take over from Jonathan Davies.

Im sure in the 2nd half saints where attacking and he said eastmond but it was john wilkin anbody else pick it up ?

French and Davies need to learn to listen to each other. They tend to interrupt each other's sentences too much. Both needs to be replaced IMO .

And they are still better than Eddie and Stevo, and the BBC still cover RL better then Sky.

When French is commentating you can almost smell the Werthers Originals and p155.

not much change, same setup as every year except woods gets the final and not french
we still have to listen to his emabaresssing efforts ehrough the rounds, he cant keep up with play, doesnt appreciate the modern game and his saints bias is terrible!

I had to laugh how Ray just happened to be comentating on the Saints game fluky or what
Everytime saints got near Hudds trying I thought Davies was giving Ray a 'hand' so excited did the old fool become.

I know I will be in a minority but I like Ray because he has passion in his voice and makes the game sound exiting not sure Woods has this quality.

The subject of Ray French always leaves me in two minds… as an ex professional Rugby League player who has dedicated so much of his time to a game he obviously loves through radio, TV, print media and the amateur game I have a huge amount of respect for him

Ray french has been fantastic for rugby league i would rather listen the BBC comentry over Sky any day the BBC comentry are presented by people who know and understand RL unlike the sky presenters like cullen who talks a good game but was crap at playing.
