Quote: Ganson's Optician "Looking on the Club Wembley website and certain bars etc are exclusive to their respective member classes. How will that work on Saturday?'"

You have a Club Wembley ticket and you'll be able to use them, have a regular ticket and you won't.
The majority of these tickets will be sold through hospitality packages.

Quote: retirethename "So it is official 63,000 tickets sold for Saturday so far. Final pretty much sold out save for a few hundred £40 tickets. 280,000 fans at games to date. Not bad, even allowing for the doom mongers who lurk I the shadows of this forum or the land of the long white cloud, they will have to pleased - within reason of course, with those numbers.'"

no...ing fantastic result for the organisers and in the region of 460k will be a stunning result....well done to all involved ESPECIALLY the RL community who we often give a lot of stick to when it comes to play offs and CC games... eusa_clap.gif

Frank35.....THE Bradley Wiggins advert for SKY this year is still, IMHO, the best piece of advertising for RL ever.......and it was commissioned by a TV "partner" that some would have us bin d040.gif

Bradley should be handing over the RLWC trophy......

Not wanting to be disparaging but I'd be curious as to the breakdown of the 280,000 attendees, such as:

a. How many different people attended (i.e. 280000 - people who attended multiple games) ?

b. Regional demographic of ticket sales ?

c. Number of new people who went along (first timers - e.g. I took 4 people to Bristol who'd never been before)

d. Number of tickets sold full price vs discounted tickets.

Some of that is impossible to analyze.

a)How would you know if it was different people or not?
b)You could say where tickets where posted to, but not who used them, for example I'm in Leeds, but my sister bought our tickets in St Helens.
c)Again you brought 4 people but how would the organizers know this, it would just be a set number of tickets sold to you.
d) This one could be done quite easily.

65,000 sold now according to RLWC Facebook:

"RLWC2013 isn't over yet, and it certainly hasn't been a shambles! We've broken crowd records in four countries, smashed other sports in UK TV ratings and gained coverage globally through activities with the likes of WWE, Marvel Comics, Manchester United, The Wiggles and more, plus more column inches than ever in the national newspapers. On November 30, we'll break the attendance record for an international Rugby League match, and we've already sold 65,000+ tickets for Wembley on Saturday. All matches are available to Virgin Media and Sky customers for a small monthly payment through Premier Sports - and online to anybody with an internet connection through Premier Player. We know we're not there yet, and there is a lot of hard work still to do, but, with the help of the #greatestfans we've achieved a lot - and we're proud of our efforts!"

Here, here!!!

We've never had this level of exposure and we have by and large got it right throughout. Who would have thought that was possible? The standard on the pitch has been superb and the feel-good factor is reminiscent of the 95 tournament. Wembley will look good with 65k in there and the noise will sound like a lot more. Plus two internationals on terrestrial TV on the same day for the second time in a month. It has gone well. Can't wait until the sell out at OT, that will be special.

The comment that is in reply to had me banging my head on the desk. Seriously, the organisers must read this and wonder why they bother!
Quote: Il Fanatico " This world cup was a shambles.. The home world cup for England and I could only watch a small percentage of the games on TV. What a joke! There should have been way more publicity, free tickets for kids to fill up bigger stadiums and all the games on FREE tv channels. The news last week featured highlights from a Union friendly and not 1 mention of the League World Cup! Long way to go maybe we will get there in 400 years not 40!'"

Another block of Wembley has opened, they seem to be opening it at 1 or 2 blocks at a time and gradually filling the top tier.

I am not sure what you mean by "disparaging" here, unless you are making some snide comment about the 280k (actually it's around 310k by now) actually being a group of 20k northerners who have attended every game, and bought multiple tickets?
a - almost certainly a very small proportion relatively, and no greater than in any other tournament in any other sport over a similar period in time. Do you have a point to make?
b - this would be interesting. It's not scientific but everyone I know who is going to Wembley is from south of Birmingham, most people I met in Cardiff were not from the heartlands, but a high proportion of people I met in Ireland had travelled to be there. Pretty much everyone around us in Bristol were locals. We can say with some certainty that more Welsh attended than for any other game in Wales, and that France's excellent crowds were made up of locals (who attended in numbers greater than they had for a World Cup since the 50s).
c - I think the wrlc people have said that newbies make up a large proportion, but we could go a long way simply by reconnecting with that audience which used to follow our sport on Grandstand in the late 80s/90s modern golden era for the international game;
d - actually, what strikes me as astonishing - and someone correct me if I'm wrong - is that there have been virtually no freebies (none that I am aware of), as opposed to 2000 and 2008 where they were widely available. Even if they are discounted they are still being paid for.

Wembley tickets now available to 'print at home'. Could do with getting the message out about that one as many will no doubt be hesitant thinking their tickets may not arrive on time etc.

The website is not very good. I click to buy tickets for the semi final, i am greeted with an image showing purple areas of areas SOLD OUT, which is pretty much everything. I click FAST TICKETS type in i want 2 tickets in section 144 and i can buy them, also tried it for section 102.

I was originally put off seeing the SOLDOUT signs and didn't want to sit in the gods. Why say sections are sold out when they are not ?!?

The website has been pretty hit and miss throughout the whole tournament.

Still 3 days left to sell tickets. We woulc still hit 70,000 by saturday. To me it all seems a bit nit picking to be harping on about not getting a sellout, when most people would have settled for 50k pre tourenment.

Just goes to show you can never satisfy; as peoples expectation rise, there demands increase higher beyond that which they originally wanted

Agree, but I also think we should have high expectations for our world cup - hopefully we build on this tournament and will be talking about selling out Wembley in 8 years time.
