| Quote: Shmoo "Whist I haven't see every game he's played, some of the tries he's score (one against saints stick in my mind) have been sensational. Apart from Offiah and Carney, no other SL winger could have scored them.
It's not just pace. As an ex-winger myself, you've got to know when to put the gas on and you've got to have the balance to maintain the pace with the ball in your hands.
I don't understand some fans tendency to talk him down. If you're a fan of the greatest game (rather than just a fan of your team), it should be refreshing to see such a young talent. Especially when most clubs including my own, tend to put 16 stone plus lumps on the wing.'"
Yep, his try against Saints and the second one v Leeds were very good tries and he took them well. But what month were they in? Not July.
I have seen his other tries and most have been walk ins that any decent winger would have scored. Don't get me wrong, he is very quick and if he can improve his positional play/defence he could be a very good winger, but come on people, feel free to take your tounges out of his @r$e any time, he's a good prospect, but he has a hell of a long way to go.

If they were walk ins why doesn't any other SL winger have his try scoring record over the same period?

Whats that got do with anything? Maybe he's in a team who can create more chances than most.

Very valid point I have to say - in Henry he has possibly the worst passer of a Rugby ball in current SL linking up with him - not to mention the fact that Warrington are a notoriously right sided team - his true potential won`t emerge till next year I suspect ...

| I find it amazing that fans are so quick to bag him. He is a talent, and has the potential to be up there with the best.
The reason people are so excited is because the turn of pace he shows to score his tries is incredible, against decent teams too in Leeds, Saints and Wigan.
He is nowhere near the finished article, he has played less than a dozen first grade games, but he is already doing great things.
His defence now is much better than in the first game he played, so it looks like he is a quick learner too...

Given the dearth of wing options for GB I don't see why not. If he's good enough, he's old enough. But I've not seen enough of him to know if he is good enough

| Well the aussies never waste any time giving youngsters the chance if they look to have the talent.
Smith likes fast backs, with lots of offloads and broken play, Penny would fit right in.
Gamble worth taking IMO.

Competent i would think.
Watching tries scored against wire i haven't really noticed penny being at fault.
Besides, who cares?
Would rather have a player with penny's pace and finishing ability then someone who could catch kicks most of the time.
