Whats the reason for this. It would give Toronto a decent advantage if they played at home.
The weather over there isn't that bad this time of year

i bet Whitehaven are pig sick with that draw, sure they would have wanted a home tie against Leeds Wigan or saints and a big home gate.

I [ithink[/i that they don't actually make much out of the challenge cup, hence Wigan St Pats deciding not to enter, for example. Could be wrong though. I bet they won't be writing this one off as a lost cause anyway, given how close York got.

The gate receipts, after costs, get shared evenly between the clubs and both clubs have to agree ticketing arrangements.
There have been a few cases where Leeds have wanted to reduce admission prices in order to encourage a crowd, only for the visiting club to object to it.

Assuming they split the gate receipts, playing in Perpignan may not be too bad.
Catalan, despite their abysmal form, manage to get decent crowds and The French may just enjoy some Challenge Cup action.
Dont know what crowd they will pull but, maybe 6500 ?? which, apart from KR v Wigan and Cas v Saints, will probably be the next highest crowd.

Young York are a far different proposition to woeful Whitehaven. The York men are in contention for promotion to the Championship in 2019. Whitehaven is a dreary Cumbrian outpost with no future promotion foreseeable.

Cas v Saints is clearly the tie of the round, I can see Leigh having a good dig at Salford too. Would have maybe fancied Whitehaven had they been at home.'"
Woeful Whitehaven would have had no chance even if the match had been held at Whitehaven.

Because I believe that Catalans will be much, much too strong for a 3rd division club, especially with the arrival of Joshua Drinkwater.

You should be a detective.
The reality is, calamitous Catalans would be heading out of the cup had they draw a top flight side .

You referred to him as Josh earlier .... . That’s the thing with different accounts you need to be on the ball all the time .

Well, I could see a SL team protesting vigorously, if they had to trek over to Toronto in the thick of the SL season. For example, Warrington are at Wigan, the weekend after this CC round. They probably wouldn't have been thrilled to spend the weekend before, in Canada, and then heading home when they should be preparing for their visit to the DW.
Oh, and one other thing - Toronto's ground/pitch improvements are only scheduled to be completed at the end of June!

Toronto had to agree to play all cup games away for (IIRC) the first three years. I believe this is likely more to do with non SL clubs and their ability to fund trips to Canada at short notice than any inconvenience of a short turnaround. With Toronto starting in League 1 they were always going to come up against semi pro and amateur teams in the early rounds due to the format of the cup. The likes of Siddal, the first team to play Toronto in the cup, for example could not be expected to travel to Canada to play a cup match. Add to that the difficulty of semi pro or amateur players getting the time off work at short notice for such a trip. For the time being it makes sense to make them play cup games over here.
Should they become established in SL by the end of that 3 year period then I would hope that they will be allowed to play at home in the cup, though they may still have to concede home advantage if drawn against part time opponents.
