| Quote: Judder Man "I've watched over a thousand games of rugby league in my current life time and can probably make a fairly non biased judgement of the standard of RL officials.
Why would I look at other sports to get a minority fragmented viewpoint to make our officials look better when in rugby league terms it is'nt.'"
Without watching other sports, what are you comparing rugby league officiating to? Everything in life is relative.

That's because it didn't happen

Get over it.

It was just a knock on IMO.
The Wigan player has every right to tackle the player and there has to be some responsibility placed on the ball carrier in terms of scoring the try...you can't expect the defender to just let him score?!
Whether he's gone into the tackle with his knee is unclear from what we saw, but it can never be a 'high tackle' when he's just off the floor!

This. And I'm often highly critical of the officials.
Some of the comments on this thread are laughable.

| Discussion of the game on TotalRL - everyone positive, everyone talking about how good the game was.
Flip over to RLFans - the game is corrupt, the officiating appalling, it's a disgrace.
Bit disappointing. It was a brilliant game that had everything, and all people here are doing are complaining about the bad parts.
Comparing the challenge on Burrow to McGuire is ridiculous. The player was going for the ball. McGuire swung on arm to the head for no reason.
Personally I thought the knock on call was right. He lost control after the tackle was complete.

Someone ought to tell the disciplinary.
Anderson's head was about a foot higher when McGuire clocked him with a swinging arm and clenched fist, and that was worth a ban apparently.

"Leeds is the greatest club in Rugby League"
Alex Murphy 2011: |
|
| Contact with the head is contact with the head, it's as simple as that. Whether it was mistimed, malicious, unintentional or otherwise it should have been at least a penalty. Had Wigan made the final the RFL would have been pooping themselves silly having banned Mcguire for exactly the same thing.

| I had no qualms with the knock on decision. This is rugby league. Carmont has every right to prevent a try.

Correct, and Mcguire had every right to effect a tackle. Consistency is once again the key word. It's driving supporters of every team nuts.

Exactly this. If you were to compare RL referees to the standard of officiating in the NFL this past three weeks, Richard Silverwood should be getting a knighthood.

| 1. The ball was not 'knocked on' by Burrow. He's in full control until Carmont swings his arm into Burrow (dislodging the ball), and Carmont's knees make contact with the ball, taking it all the way out. There is already a player affecting a tackle on Burrow, so this is a strip. At the very least, penalty to Leeds.
2. Carmont makes contact with the head of Burrow in the act of scoring, he makes no attempt to get under the ball or prevent him scoring by legitimate means. The knees then make contact with the head as he goes over the top of Burrow. That's two counts of reckless tackling, in the act of scoring, which prevented a try that would otherwise have been scored. Penalty try.

I'll take the video ref's interpretation of it.

No it isn't. A strip needs deliberate contact to push the ball out. Incidental contact with the ball in the act of a tackle doesn't give the ball carrier the right to gain an advantage by failing to hold the ball.
