| Wouldn't like to be the person making that decision. All the names mentioned deserve their place, Shaun Edwards, Clive Sullivan, Robbie Paul, Trevor Foster, Mike Gregory all deserve a place. You could have RL players all the way round the stadium and still have players missing who deserve to have a place.
I personally would choose Lance Todd. Most RL fans know the name, but don't have an image of Lance Todd.
Or maybe, to save arguments, have the a statue of the famous old trophy?
Either way the RFL should be congratulated for organising this,

| Needs to be a player recognised both domestically and Internationally. Someone that has been given an MBE or knighthood but not sure who has? On the field Hanley would have been a good one but too many wrong doings off the pitch will count him out.

| I'm going to risk a hiding here but Lance Todd would be a poor selection. He's already significantly commemorated and theres more to Rugby League than 1 bloke. A significant percentage of RL fans wouldn't even know why he is such a legend of the sport.

| Me personally i'd go with one of thos action type statues Mike Gregorys diving try v Australia in 88, the one in which Andy Gregory breaks the line draws a man a gives a lovely flat pass to Mike, Offiah is jogging next to him whinging all the way in his ear wanting to take the glory, i'd have one of Mike Gregory diving over the line.

| Don Fox on his knees? Surely the most iconic Wembley image.

Absolutely. The whole episode of that kick typifies Rugby League. He was right in front of the sticks - he should have kicked it. RL is the greatest game in the world - it should be a massive sport.
Poetic.

39110_1363272058.jpg Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot
Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good
-
sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league
-
Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate
-
the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever
-
Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go
-
Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know

Knew somebody would say this. I agree.
BUT
They need to make a big song and dance of it. Huge event for the unveiling, live on sky sports news with big interviews. Unveil it at a sensible time like in the build up to the final next year or the semi-finals.... maybe do it as part of a big world-cup build up event.
Just lifting a sheet of a statue will do nothing on its own and people will walk past it not knowing what it is unless we tell them through broadcast media.
The RFL need to go to town on this. I'm pretty sure well over a million people visit Wembley each year, they all need to know what this statue is for.

If thre statue is to be of a player it will need to be a former great who is either dead or past recruitment by RU as a player / coach.
How about How about Vince Karalius passing out of a tackle to Alex Murphy?

| Even as a Leigh fan, that image really, really says a lot about RL at Wembley.

| I think we should have a three person statue. One person for the whole sport seems a little light to say the least. Sullivan sounds like a very good start, made his mark in the game for twenty years.
Wouldn't go with Edwards though, he's embraced the other code a little too close for my liking.

Agreed, him, Jason Robertson or Andy 'posh voice' Farrell shouldn't be anywhere near.

Agreed. It's the one clip you are guaranteed to see every year about the two subjects, rugby league and Wembley. (And not just because I'm a Wakefield fan.)

This would be outstanding. Perhaps too 'recent' for it to be considered though.
