So thats makes it a reason to dislike the sport. NRL steals (as you put it) players from SL, the top 4 of SL takes players from the bottom etc. Don't you remember when we signed all them players from Union in the old days?
Lets face it, League (especially English) is now way down the food chain, Union is where the money and the big stage is. Maybe we could try and learn something from Union rather s than at it!

| Quote: jonny the leyther "My favourite bit of Union is when about 20 forwards are all in a big heap near the try line. Pushing, pulling, stamping, scratching, no idea where the ball is at all, then low and behind the ref, clueless and bas blind as us goes. TRY!
I love that bit, so entertaining and then there's a kick to follow, I can't take the excitement.'"
Brilliant as always jonny.
Hopefully union fans will see the light one day but I am not holding my breath.

| one of my mates at work was banging on about the "rugby world cup" so instead of doing my usual routine of criticism of RU, I decided to actually watch the game this morning.
Truly terrible turgid stuff - neither team looked like scoring a decent try - there was 1 line break down the middle, that no-one supported and ended up with a long pass to the wing. 30 odd penalties in the game, over 10 penalty kicks at goal (mostly missed).
Based on that game Kyle Eastmond will be a senstation in RU, IMO.

| As my girlfriend said this morning it looks like watching rugby league where all the players get p!$$ed before they go out to play - they jump on top of each other, drop the ball and then stand around doing nothing for a bit
Took her all of about 4 minutes to work that out

Wrong again.
Not many (if any) players who have crossed codes' ambition was to switch to a game they never grew up playing. But, a hell of a lot of RL players ambition is to test themselves in the best league in the world. They do this more from proffesional desire, rather than going to union, which is for the money.
Would players go to yawnion if it paid the same as league-no
Would players go to the NRL if it paid the same as Super League-yes.

| End of the day if you don't like it don't watch it. Otherwise all you'll be doing is providing ITV with increased viewing figures which will strenghthen both their and the IRB's hand with regard to future tournaments.

| no denying that league is better to watch but unfortunately union is played in more countries around the world and marketed a hell of a lot better.
its not too bad to watch now n then in the league close season as a poor substitute to our game.

Aye it certainly is and the Aussie union fans are getting into a right stink over it.

Jealousy? Just looks like several people who've seen something they didn't like and are posting it on an internet forum.
I don't get the chips on shoulders comment either.

| I watched the England v Argentina game and it was a horrid horrid game.
Reading Union forums and people in OZ are fuming. CH9 doesnt give a damn about the sport and NRL is king in Australia. They are even ditching the Australia v Ireland game for the NRL.
Its funny though as people over here think Union is major sport in Australia but it really isnt.

| Give union a chance, it may evolve into a better sport.
All they really need to do now is reduce the number of players to 13, get rid of those silly line outs, remove the competition element from those dangerous scrums where most of the serious injuries occur, downgrade the value of those boring drop goals to, say, 1 point and introduce a recycling element to the ruck after a tackle is judged to be complete (this would remove all that tedious pushing and shoving), maybe teams could be required to kick the ball after, say, 6 tackles to avoid continuous possession by one team.
This should make for a vastly more entertaining spectacle and a much higher skill level from the players.
Simples.
