| I can remember a Keighley player making as if to set up for a penalty, talking to the ref who nodded, then suddenly sprinting through the static defensive line. He touched down without even a finger laid on him.
Paul Ashton once scored a penalty from a back heeled kick in front of the posts. (he got a real rollocking after the game).

I think the point was that the try you are on about is the same one that Eddiewaringsflatcap mentioned. It was John Harrison who headed it for George Mann to score.

| Lee Jackson sticking the ball up the back of his shirt before taking a quick tap and scoring while everyone thought the ball was still out of play.

I saw that match. I'm disappointed to hear I must've missed this back flip pass. It sounds spectacular and particularly acrobatic.

| I remember Phil Ford scoring a solo try from receiving a kick off on his own line. It was in the Premiership versus Leeds in 1988. He beat 4 defenders and even waved bye bye at the Leeds fullback before diving over. It was the best solo try I've seen at Odsal. The Yorkshire Post headline in the sports section on the Monday was "Ford Scores Wonder Try".

Gutted! I've been telling people about that try for years but always thought it was Paul Forber who'd headed it over and I've always tried to tried to grab some reflected glory from it -in a " how cool is that and he played for salford too you know" kind of a way.
Must have been the headband that my memory has attached to the wrong head

Buffer never really used his head in that way. Or any other way, really.

| What about one team scoring, the opposition kick off, recover the ball and score directly from the kick off?
When Widnes played Whitehaven in the 2009 play-off's, the score wass 20-20 but Haven scored a drop goal with about 2 or 3 mins left. Widnes kicked off, recovered the kick and broke away to score.
