| Quote Mark_W="Mark_W"How much were they over the cap? Why would they have to get rid of all of them?'"
Apparently they are over by 1.5 Greg Inglis' according to the reports. (700,000 Aussie dollars). I think the 'average' NRL salary was estimated to be $160,000 so it's either cut a star ($500,000 ish) or several lesser players, therefore weakening your squad strength.

| More worryingly the new Union startup in Melbourne is rumoured to be looking at them all and there are questions about the future of the Storm as all their sponsors and backers are jumping ship.

it won't happen for a few seasons when the new tv deal comes in.
Reports have Lima to Canberra, Tolman to Canterbury and Finch to Newcastle.

| Quote JB Down Under="JB Down Under"They'll stay in the NRL but be heading fer other clubs imo. Expect Cowboys (If Thurston doesn't resign), Broncos (if Folau jumps ship), Manly (If Stewart goes down) to all make moves for the big names. Finch was on his way after this year anyway and may end up in SL. Would love to see Blair go to the NZ Warriors. Only Inglis or Slater would be wanted by RU I'd say.'"
Yeah only Inglis and Slater.
Heard of Chambers?
He seems to be going OK for the Deads...
About to do another Jim Lisle reversal.
They would have no interest in the likes of Blair or Smith to name two at random...

......... I just thought Ganson and the video ref were incompetent, thanks for the heads up.
As for the original thread question, depending on who has room under the cap, it's more likely players will go to other NRL clubs.

There is only one reason RU would want a Melbourne player and that is profile. Slater and Inglis both have massive national profiles. None of the others do. Cam Smith is the best player out of the lot of them but outside RL nobody would know who he is. We have seen countless times that unless you have a background in RU it is very unlikely a RL forward will make any splash in their game so they would only throw money at backs, and at high profile ones at that. Still laugh all you like Gijou, your ignorance makes us laugh along too.
